Overview

The Commercial Engineering Toolkit (Comet) is a powerful UI infrastructure application that supports Mastercard’s digital transformation acceleration by hosting a library of scalable, reusable components, design patterns, and page templates. Comet empowers our Product & Engineering teams across commercial solutions to speed development and innovation through a foundational set of tools, ensuring Mastercard and partner-hosted products deliver reliable, accessible, and visually consistent UI experiences.

Our mission is to lead the client-facing experience at Mastercard, bridging the gap between design and engineering to provide a seamless, opinionated interface for our users. We are seeking a Software Development Manager to lead a cross-functional team within the Commercial Solutions organization, driving innovation and excellence in UI design for the future of commercial payments.

Role:

Hire, lead, mentor, and coach a team of software engineers.

Build a culture of trust, ownership, and purpose.

Provide leadership, guidance and direction on systems and web application architecture and system design.

Focus on user-centered design.

Participate and drive design, hands on coding and code reviews.

Promote an Agile approach to software development. Insist on a culture of continuous integration and delivery, automation and minimizing blast radius.

Collaborate with teams across the organization to mitigate risk and resolve dependencies.

All About You:

The ideal candidate is someone with prior/recent hands-on coding experience with proven people manager skills.

Proficient in JavaScript, Angular, Java/J2EE, Spring boot, Oracle, PostgreSQL and Cloud technologies (AWS/ Azure)

Successfully designed and developed externally facing web applications utilizing modern single page application frameworks.

Possess high-energy, detail-oriented, proactive, and adaptive and can work in a dynamic environment.

Proven success leading and building teams, performing performance reviews, and coaching employees.

Possess an understanding of multi-tier web development; including knowledge of server-side technologies and databases.

Having proficiency in Quality engineering and experience working with Quality leads to define processes and technologies.

Passion for improving code quality using approaches such as unit and end to end testing.

Deep knowledge of Continuous Integration and Delivery and toolsets that provide this ability.

Understanding of agile principles and methodologies and experience implementing and adapting them to fit the team’s needs.

Use and understand Git based source control systems.

Previous experience in ADA and WCAG compliance.

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.
