About This Position:

We are seeking a qualified Project Engineer with 2-5 years’ experience to become a part of our growing Traffic Engineering and Planning Group for our Albany, White Plains, or Poughkeepsie Offices. Our traffic engineers work on a variety of projects and interact with transportation planners, highway engineers, transit professionals, structure engineers and our construction inspection staff.

Responsibilities include:

Leading or preparing traffic impact and safety studies

Leading the traffic evaluation for multi-modal transportation planning projects

Evaluations of existing and proposed transportation improvements

Developing roadway, trail and sidewalk designs

Intersection design and layout including roundabouts and traffic signals

Checking design calculations prepared by others

Preparation of construction contract documents

Project coordination, report writing and estimating

Direct coordination with clients

Essential Job Functions:

Proficiency in traffic engineering and modeling software (Synchro and Vissim)

Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of engineering work in part of a bigger project.

Plan and conduct work requiring some judgment and independent evaluation.

Apply standard technology and procedures.

Conduct analysis choosing appropriate applications.

Anticipate bigger project objectives

Complete intermediate and limited complex engineering assignments

Attend project meetings and present specific aspects of engineering assignments.

Responsible for report writing for basic projects and some intermediate projects.

Project engineer of basic projects – staffing, scope, schedule, budget.

Assume client relations for routine basic projects.

Provide some delegation and supervision of Assistant and Junior Engineers and Technicians.

Receive direction on technical guidance for complex problems.

Applied knowledge of NACTO, MUTCD, ADA, and relevant state DOT design requirements.

Strong analytical, writing, and public speaking skills.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program or an approved equivalent. Professional Engineering (P.E.) licensure a plus.

2-5 years of experience in a similar engineering role required.

MicroStation, AutoCAD, ESRI ArchGIS, Synchro, Vissim, or Adobe Illustrator skills are a plus.

Active member of a professional practice organization.

Pay Range:

Albany, NY: $34/hour – $42/hour

Poughkeepsie, NY: $36/hour – $45/hour

White Plains, NY: $38/hour – $49/hour

Pay is based on applicant’s ability/experience and will be rated accordingly.
