General FunctionProvides client and network system administration subject matter expertise for network-based command and control systems, client operating systems, network operating systems, and resolution of complex malfunctions in client and server systems. Provides support to personal, mobile, and deployable systems to include imaging, configuring, and testing systems for individual users before temporary duty or deployment.
Major Activities (Typical Duties/Responsibilities)
Analyzes local and wide area network systems, including planning, evaluating, selecting, and installing operating systems.
Configures communication media with concentrators, bridges, and other devices.
Provide client information services to include information systems devices, applications configuration, installation and maintenance of computer hardware and client software applications to include installation and upgrades to the organization. Add users to network and establish all rights/permissions required for users .
Develops, tests, and distributes drive images for desktop and laptop systems.
Provide mobile device support to include tracking, receiving, configuring, activation, user training, training material development, and disposal including iPhone, Blackberry, Android devices, cables, accessories, and peripherals.
Provides information assurance assistance through acquisition, testing, and installation of vendor operating system and application software patches, hot fixes, and version releases to ensure compatibility with standard configurations. Analyzes local and wide area network systems including the planning, designing, and evaluating and selecting operating systems.
Resolves interoperability problems to obtain operations across all platforms.
Provide computer and network services to install, configure, and troubleshoot network and application server hardware, network operating system software, security patches, and peripheral network equipment such as routers, bridges, cabling system, network interface cards, modems, multiplexers, and concentrators.
Conduct testing of network systems to ensure current network software products are compatible with system configurations and to ensure operability, efficiency, and compliance with existing standards.
May assist in and support the acquisition of hardware and software, as well as with, subcontractor services as needed.
Serves as a liaison between department and other departments, outside customers, regulatory personnel and organizations, etc.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Abilities
Detailed knowledge of client operating systems, network operating systems, desktop and laptop configuration, installation, troubleshooting, and repair.
Significant knowledge of server administration and management, desktop applications including word processing, spreadsheets, email, security, and database programs required.
Working knowledge of network transport layers to facilitate troubleshooting and to perform automated network functions.
Working Knowledge of Information Assurance principles, vulnerability management, and remediation.
Secret Level Security clearance required.
Drug Screen and Background Check: pass with ability to maintain throughout employment.
Minimum Experience
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
Client and mobile systems administration training.
Information Assurance Technician Level II, with minimum of Security+ required to attain network permissions commensurate with network duties.
Minimum of 4 years related to network and/or client system administration.
