The Sustainability Manager will develop and lead a team working on sustainability issues that are at the top of the agenda for both the public and private sectors, as well as society as a whole. This role will support internal clients with key strategic sustainability initiatives, ESG policy advisory services, and by integrating ESG into operations. The aim of this role is to make a meaningful impact on the environment and society, by designing and implementing solutions to global issues such as climate change and social inclusion, and by helping the company to manage its transitions to ensure a more sustainable world.The Sustainability Manager will provide input and drive implementation of the client sustainability strategy and programs. In this role, he/she will work in the mining and plant business, working with corporate team members with a goal of delivering practical sustainability solutions that enable the client business to grow. The role will hold specific responsibility for compliance and grievance management in the Indonesia projects, plus regional and global responsibilities in selected strategic initiatives.The main responsibilities are the following:Follow up on the evolution of Indonesia regulations and international standards in relation to his/her scope of workLead the implementation of sustainability strategies, policies, and important ESG documentation aligning with local and international requirementsDevelop and run systems to make reporting and information sharing more efficient, accurate, and impactfulLiaise with key stakeholder partners in the sustainability effort, including selecting and managing community investment partners to align with business goalsWork with cross-functional Group leaders and committees, and external sustainability consultants to analyze sustainability performance and develop key performance indicatorsFacilitate Sustainability Training, audits, inspections, and compliance reporting, and provide post-review recommendations and action plansEnsure all departments are in line with the client sustainability standard, particularly the Procurement Department (to ensure a list of potential vendors who align with responsible sourcing principles, as well as providers of sustainability-related services)Manage the development of sustainability communications internally and externallyCreate continual educational resources on sustainability issuesInstitutionalize sustainability through documentation and regular review of policies with the GroupRegularly conduct a benchmark survey of industry new practices to develop or improve sustainable productionDrive the execution of project plans, working directly with partners, consultants, and internal stakeholders to build engagement and trust with the businessPartner with the Public Affairs and Communications teams to promote the value and commitment to sustainability across the Group and stakeholdersYour background
Experience:
Master's degree in a related field or equivalent experienceA minimum of
15 years’ professional experience in an ESG/sustainability-related roleExperience with ESG due diligence and surveillance processes in the frame of Equator Principles project financingExperience in sustainable/green finance will be an asset (e.g., structuring green bonds)Experience in the development of processes related to sustainabilityExperience with project or program management, particularly with NGOs
Skills:
An excellent understanding of global ESG agendas, policies, and standards (in particular Equator Principles and IFC Sustainability Performance Standards; and IRMA standard)A good understanding of both the strategic and operational issues relating to ESGSharp analytical and strategic thinking skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsExcellent management skillsMulticultural working experienceProficiency in English is a must
