Zurich North America is hiring a Cloud Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Engineer to join our Information Technology team reporting to the Cloud Engineering Manager. The Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and support of RHEL systems, with a particular focus on managing and troubleshooting Pacemaker clusters in Azure environments. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Linux system administration, cluster management, and cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure.Key Responsibilities:Technical Support and Troubleshooting:

Provide advanced support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems.Manage and troubleshoot Pacemaker clusters to ensure high availability and performance.Resolve complex technical issues related to RHEL systems and Pacemaker clusters in Azure environments.Respond to support tickets and ensure timely resolution of issues.

System Administration:

Perform regular system maintenance, including patch management, updates, and upgrades.Monitor system performance and implement optimizations to improve efficiency.Manage user accounts, permissions, and security policies.Ensure system compliance with organizational policies and industry best practices.

Design, implement, and manage Pacemaker clusters to ensure high availability of critical services.Monitor cluster performance and address any issues that arise.Develop and maintain scripts for automation of cluster management tasks.Document cluster configurations and operational procedures.Deploy and manage RHEL systems in Azure environments.Utilize Azure services and tools to monitor and maintain system health and performance.Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions in Azure.Ensure security and compliance of RHEL systems in Azure.Collaboration and Communication:

Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including developers, network engineers, and security specialists.Communicate effectively with clients and internal stakeholders to provide updates and gather feedback.Conduct training sessions and create documentation for end-users and technical staff.

Stay updated with the latest developments in Red Hat technologies, Pacemaker clusters, and Azure.Participate in ongoing training and certification programs.Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions.Required:Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or System Architecture and 6 or more years experience in an IT operations areaORZurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associate Degree in Computer Science or System Architecture and 6 or more years experience in an IT operations areaORHigh School Diploma or Equivalent, and 8 or more years experience in an IT operations areaANDExperience with public and private Cloud technologies5 or more years’ project management experience3 or more years’ leadership experience in Infrastructure or Cloud implementationsExperience of migrating in-house services to a public cloud providerExperience of delivering business solutions with cloud computing services/platformsExperience with Virtual/Cloud infrastructure troubleshootingPreferred Qualifications:5-10 years of experience in Linux system administration, with a focus on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.Certifications: Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) preferred. Azure certifications are a plus.Technical Skills:Proficiency in Red Hat Enterprise Linux and related technologies.Strong knowledge of Pacemaker clusters and high availability solutions.Experience with Microsoft Azure, including deployment, management, and monitoring of RHEL systems.Proficiency in shell scripting and automation tools (e.g., Ansible).Familiarity with network protocols and services (e.g., DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP).Understanding of security best practices and tools (e.g., SELinux, firewalls).Soft Skills:Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Customer-focused with a commitment to delivering high-quality support.May require occasional on-call support or after-hours work to address critical issues.Compensation for roles at Zurich varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. The salary provided is a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location where the position may be filled.
