As a Frontend Software Engineer, you will be responsible for building intuitive and engaging user interfaces for web applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to translate design mockups and product requirements into functional frontend components. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of cutting-edge software solutions and collaborate with talented professionals in a dynamic environment.Who you are:Enthusiastic about developing the best software available and providing the ultimate customer experience.An advocate for continuous improvement of our software development process.Interested in staying current by applying new technologies.Able to work in a collaborative environment with a willingness to share your ideas.Able to work independently on modules and complete tasks with high quality and contribute to high velocity, but unafraid to seek out suggestions from other team members.Excited to work on cutting-edge technology.During the first six months, you will:Collaborate with designers to implement UI/UX designs and ensure consistency across different platforms and devices.Write clean, maintainable, and modular code following best practices and coding standards.Work closely with backend engineers to integrate frontend components with server-side logic and APIs.Optimize application performance by identifying and addressing frontend bottlenecks and implementing efficient solutions.Conduct thorough testing of frontend features and functionalities to ensure compatibility, usability, and accessibility.Troubleshoot and debug frontend issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement timely resolutions.Stay updated on emerging frontend technologies, tools, and trends, and evaluate their potential impact on our projects.Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and collaborate with team members to improve code quality and maintainability.Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes, workflows, and tools to enhance productivity and efficiency.Required Experience:Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.Proven experience (2 years) as a Frontend Software Engineer or similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing frontend projects and contributions.Experience with frontend frameworks and libraries: React.Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git), package managers (e.g., npm), and build tools (e.g., Webpack).Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug and troubleshoot complex frontend issues.Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality, pixel-perfect UIs that meet design specifications.A passion for learning and staying updated on emerging technologies and industry trends.Preferred Experience:Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred, Azure, GCP).Familiarity with frontend testing frameworks (e.g., Playwright – preferred, Jest, Enzyme, Cypress) and automated testing practices.Understanding of web performance optimization techniques and tools.Knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and experience in building accessible web applications.Experience with RESTful APIs and AJAX techniques.Previous experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and familiarity with project management tools like Jira or Asana.Contributions to open-source projects, participation in developer communities, or attendance at tech conferences/events.Paylocity is an equal-opportunity employer.
