As a member of the Knorr-Bremse Group, WPSD is able to offer a global support network along with the highest levels of service, quality and experience across all of our products, systems and services.JOB DESCRIPTION:The RailServices [RS] Sales Application Engineer is responsible for the technical support of all business activities of Knorr Brake Company’s RailServices (aftermarket) department.This position works closely with the RailServices Regional Aftermarket Sales, Bids & Proposals, Modernization Projects, and RS Project Management teams to identify and recommend sales opportunities, and to develop those opportunities through technical concepts and proposals with a focus on Maintenance, Upgrade and Modernization for the complete Knorr-Bremse Product portfolio.Essential FunctionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Support technical project handover from the Original Equipment [OE] project side of the business to the RailServices Aftermarket teamsSupport RailServices Regional Aftermarket Sales teams in identifying sales and business potential, including:Gain insights on KB and competitor product technical performance (e.g. through customer contacts and visits)Proactive analysis of KB installed base through technical obsolescence or performance and reliability upgrade assessmentsProactive review of competitor installed base for business potential to replace competitor products (e.g. as part of maintenance or modernization activities)Promotion, implementation, and application of the full range of RailServices products and servicesTechnical lobbying at customer sitesPresent and discuss technical concepts with customersClose cooperation and interaction with the sales teams during the tender phaseSupport RailServices Bids & Proposal and Modernization Projects teams in preparing technical concepts and proposals for business activities, including:Technical analysis of customers’ installed base and productsIdentification of technical customer requirements and expectationsDevelop and prepare specificationsWrite clause-by-clause comment to the technical customer specificationsGenerate technical concepts, proposals, and solutionsSupport cost definition and optimization in tender phase of proposalsTechnical validation of RailServices proposals in line with Knorr-Bremse processes and policiesInitiate, coordinate, and manage the technical modernization process during the tender phase, including technical tender managementWrite technical proposals for customer or prepare tender documents and submissionsCoordinate and oversee engineering activities in RailServices tender phaseSupport RailServices Project Management team in identifying sales and business potential, including:Act as a technical consultant to the RS Project Manager, helping to successfully implement elements of the projectCoordinate and oversee engineering activities in RailServices project phaseTechnical support for troubleshooting during the project phaseReview and release of technical project documentation for RailServices projectsReview and validation of engineering activities by local Engineering, Center of Competence [CoC] Engineering, or RailServices Engineering as part of the RailServices project phaseTechnical customer support for operation and maintenance of KB systems and productsTechnical customer assistance and coordination of technical problems to resolve open issuesInitiate Knorr-Bremse’s formal process to request engineering support by completing necessary Request for Engineering Development [RED] and Request for Engineering Change [REC] formsCoordinate condition analysis and generate customer reportsDevelop and extend network within the industry, including:Establishing and extending network with technical contacts at transit authorities, car builders, maintenance personnel, and consultantsFrequent customer visits with Engineering and Maintenance departments to identify and develop business opportunitiesTechnical representation for the RailServices portfolio at industry events and conferencesMust be able to comply with quality, product safety, and HSE rules and regulations.
