The Network Administrator understands performance of network services from network design through implementation, maintenance, and upgrading of existing networks. Has thorough knowledge of general Local Area Network (LAN)/Campus Area Network (CAN)/ Wide Area Network (WAN) administration.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:Coordinates with all responsible users and sites to resolve network or system incidents, including all levels of staff within and outside of IT and outside the organization.Translates business requirements into telecommunications (e.g., LAN, CAN, WAN, Voice and Video) requirements, designs and orders.Performs engineering analysis of telecommunications alternatives in support of strategic modernization efforts and telecommunications enhancement design for medium and large-scale telecommunication infrastructures.Assists telecommunications end users, telecommunications operations personnel, and telecommunications strategic program management with network interfaces. Analyzes design, specifications, and related documents.Coordinate Communications and Networking requirements with multiple program offices, manage a multi-disciplinary stakeholder IPT and plan the development and delivery of communications and networking requirements for the full QRC/POR lifecycle.Provide information systems administration support and technical expertise for C4 programs, specifically the GCCS system.Provide guidance of applicable technical concepts and practices; including installation, upgrade, and administration of hardware and software.Maintenance, technical, logistics, and life cycle support.Resolution of interoperability issues for the types of mission systems/equipment listed on the equipment list and mission systems listed.Requirements
1-2 years of experience working collaboratively with program management, systems engineers, and operations personnel in an engineering environment.Direct experience with network development.Demonstrated ability to brief and advise management.Excellent communication skills including the ability to work on multi-functional teams.Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware.Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches, and controllers.Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems.Self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment.Network security experience.LAN and WAN experience.EducationBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.Desired SkillsKnowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP).Routing, switching, and routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP).Skills with configuring Firewalls, VPNs, and understanding of encryption protocols (SSL/TLS, IPSEC).Diagnosing and troubleshooting network issues using TCP Stack OSI model.Knowledge and experience with Fortinet Firewalls.Special Note
