Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a
Staff Communications Engineer
to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in defining the future. This position will be located in
Melbourne, FL.
Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems Multi-Domain Command and Control (MDC2) business unit is developing cutting edge technology that seamlessly analyzes, fuses, and distributes multi-domain information into command-and-control systems of systems to support all domains of war.
They will be responsible for one or more of the following:
Integration of airborne communications systems and components to enable real-time coordination and reliable communication between ground, air, space and naval forces.
Requirements development, analysis, maturation and implementation.
Design, analyze, configure, test, document and troubleshoot communications systems.
Document designs using detailed schematics, diagrams and specifications.
Collaborate with engineers and program stakeholders to integrate Line of Sight (LOS) and Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) subsystems to meet platform mission objectives.
Technical management of program strategic partners and suppliers, including development, acquisition, acceptance, qualification, system integration and test support.
Perform informal and formal testing of subsystem requirements.
A successful Communications Engineer has good leadership skills and understands the scope of the work and the impact of the work on other teams, consistently brings up concerns, issues and risks to program and technical leadership and holds the team to a high level of technical rigor.
Basic Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 14 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university AND 12 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; or a Ph.D. AND 9 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering.
Must have an active DoD Secret clearance that is in-scope (granted or renewed within the last 6 years).
Ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.
Knowledge of electromagnetics in the RF spectrum (HF through Ku/Ka bands).
Experience designing, configuring, installing and operating LOS and BLOS communication systems in airborne military applications.
Experience with voice, military and network waveforms.
Experience with performance assessment through link margin and antenna pattern analyses.
Experience with RF antenna and component design and performance analysis.
Preferred Qualifications:
An active Top Secret clearance.
Ability to design, select and characterize RF design to meet mission objectives.
Experience with cryptographic implementations.
Experience with cosite analysis.
Experience with system modeling and requirements management tools (Cameo, DOORS, Rhapsody, etc.), developing/maturing requirements, and tracing requirements through various levels.
Experience leading/guiding teams through product definition and implementation.
Experience communicating with and presenting to senior leadership.
Demonstrated proposal, budget & scheduling proficiency and business acumen.
Experience collaborating on large interdisciplinary teams.
Experience with Earned Value Management.
Experience with supplier/subcontract management.
Experience with developing supplier documentation, performance-based specifications, and statements of work.
Salary Range:
$142,500 - $213,700
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
