Description

Provide overall coordination of transportation design-build project from design conception through final construction acceptance. Ensures construction plans, plats, and specifications conform to all applicable standards and requirements. Provide oversight and supervision over the technical work of the design team. Prepares and monitors project design budget and schedules. Coordinates project design with federal, state and local agencies, utility companies, regulatory/approval agencies, elected officials, and citizens to resolve project issues.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:Initiate, coordinate, and design projects and calculationsResponsible for coordinating every project design phase.Research, plan, design, and administer engineering and design on Design-Build projects, applying knowledge of design, construction procedures and industry standard.Function as the prime contact coordinating the resolution of design and engineering problems, reviewing progress, recommending alternatives and advising on project objectives.Reviews and supervises proposed revisions to technical design standards and ordinances;Develop or evaluate plans/criteria or special analyses required in support of the design effort. Provide consulting expertise within an area of specialization.Review drawings and designer submittals for accuracyEnsures construction plans, plans, and specifications conform to all applicable standards and requirements.Prepares and monitors design budget and schedules.May conduct special studies or analysis of major importance requiring a staff of specialists or highly experienced engineers.Interface with bidding and construction team and coordinate with construction approach.Plans, coordinates, directs and supervises the work of a group of engineers or architects in the design and construction of heavy civil projects.Ensures design meets project standards and agreed upon specifications and time frames, and permit and regulatory requirements;Provides technical engineering guidance and input on key projects throughout the conceptual, preliminary and final design and construction phases;Participate in meetings with owners, partners and subsExecutes additional duties and responsibilities as assignedMaintaining and managing Design ScheduleMaintaining and managing Design BudgetProducing monthly Design Progress ReportREQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Civil Engineering8 – 15 years of related work experiencePE preferredDesign Build experience (contractor or designer side)Ability to interpret construction drawingsKnowledge of means and methods and construction techniquesKnowledge of construction industry, trends, innovation, etc.On-site and field experience on civil projects will be appreciated.Knowledge and experience with Scheduling software (i.e. Microsoft Project and/or P-6), Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPointExcellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skillsDemonstrated aptitude to understand engineering projectsSupervisory experience preferredFamiliarity with CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering is also required.Organizational ability – able to plan, prioritize, organize and monitor activities and projects. Able to work well in a group environment and foster a team approach.Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other team members to achieve goals, ask for inputs by valuing others’ ideas and expertise, and support and act in accordance with final decisions, even when such decisions may not entirely reflect own position.Ability to establish and maintain good relationships and partnerships with clients, vendors, subcontractors and construction partners.Ability to raise topics that need to be discussed with team or required a company decisionAbility to identify project risksPrioritize workload and consistently meet deadlines while constantly changing tasks and demandsAbility to work with other engineers and estimators and be part of a team
