About This Role:

The data, planning and usability analyst will provide leadership and vision for strategic planning, data analysis and visualization, and usability/user experience. The analyst will provide data support for the Libraries and the university community as needed, including assisting with data management tools, methods and best practices and providing consultations on finding, using and retrieving data. The analyst will be responsible for timely collection of library statistics from responsible parties and ensuring data is compiled for reporting, planning and evaluation purposes and disseminated appropriately. The analyst will work closely with the administration and management teams to effectively engage and apply the information gathered in decision-making and planning processes. This position reports to the dean of the Libraries.

Core Responsibilities

Track progress on the K-State Libraries’ strategic plan and work in collaboration with the Libraries’ communications and marketing department to visualize and report progress.

Participate in the K-State Libraries strategic leadership council and the strategic planning steering committee.

Analyze institutional data and communicate impact and benchmark reports to appropriate individuals and groups, including library staff and the campus community.

Create and maintain tools (LibGuides, web pages, workshops, etc.) for instruction to faculty and staff about data, statistical analysis, and tools and strategies for research with data.

Participate in data warehouse planning, with a focus on automated or batch collection of routine data.

Coordinate responses to external requests for Libraries data including directories, membership surveys, institutional research surveys and other higher education surveys.

Coordinate the Libraries’ participation in national library data-collecting initiatives.

Coordinate usability assessment activities to improve the Libraries’ online presence, collaborating with the Libraries’ information technology services and communications and marketing departments, as well as relevant committees.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and one to three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in library/information science from a program accredited by the American Library Association or comparable terminal degree in data analytics, data science or other relevant discipline.

Demonstrated knowledge of issues, trends and technologies related to academic research and research data management.

Training or experience with data management and research impact metrics.

Experience training researchers and students in computational data skills, i.e., teaching Carpentries workshops.

Demonstrated skills in data analytics and visualization tools and methods.

Knowledge of and experience with one or more of the following areas: strategic planning, usability, user experience, library assessment or AI literacy.

Demonstrated excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse and fast-paced environment.

Anticipated Hiring Pay Range:

$53,581-$69,633
