Abbott’s Medical Device Division supporting R&D IT.As the
Senior Database Engineer II , you’ll have the chance to create technical/functional specifications, support new and existing applications and processes to enable development teams to release medical device software and systems more rapidly. You’ll work collaboratively with other IT operational and software engineering teams to deploy and operate our systems/platforms and support client utilization.What You’ll Work OnCreating and managing the ODB environments that serve production, reporting, disaster recovery, training, and non‐production needsInstalling and maintaining the administrative and monitoring tools necessary for high level of availability and performance of EMR systemUnderstanding performance metrics, monitoring system performance, and troubleshooting issuesManaging the logins for different types of accessApplying upgrades and updates to production and non‐production environmentsConfiguring and maintaining environment copies according to the environment strategyResponding to emergency and after‐hours issuesEngaging in capacity planning exercises to ensure adequate system resourcesCollaborating with technical teams and EMR Vendor to ensure proactive supportWriting and maintaining scripts to improve system management tasksParticipating in change control process for all planned application and technical activitiesMaintaining and testing processes related to business continuityFollow vendor best practices for hardware and software configurationCollaborate with partner IT staff to improve processes and infrastructure setupContribute to end-user training as neededCommunicate trends and new developments in technology to advise on current state best practices for implementing solutionsCommunicates effectively with management to enhance their understanding of the opportunities and limitations of information systemsRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experienceStrong Unix skills using the command‐line promptUnderstanding of operating system conceptsKnowledge of a command shell and languages such as awk, sed, and PerlMust be familiar with Agile software development methodologiesFamiliar with containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)Experience with Repository management and version control (GIT)Experience with Deploying applications and infrastructure to Azure cloud environmentsExcellent communication and customer service skillsMust be a self-starter and possess good analytical skillsAbility to travel approximately 3%Preferred QualificationsEMR based application and (or) EMR based database administration certification5+ years of technical system administration experience5+ years of experience translating business requirements into technical designsAt least 3 years’ experience working in regulated environmentsApply NowAbbott is an Equal Opportunity Employer, committed to employee diversity.The base pay for this position is
