Overview:
The Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department (AVFRD) is seeking a dedicated and experienced IT Systems/Network Administrator to join our volunteer team. This critical role involves managing and maintaining the department's IT infrastructure, including administration of Microsoft 365 services and various other software and networking systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in IT systems management, coupled with a commitment to supporting the vital work of our fire and rescue team.
Key Responsibilities:
Microsoft 365 Administration:
Manage and maintain Microsoft 365 services, including Entra, Office, Power Automate, Windows, Intune, and other related components.
Oversee user accounts, permissions, and access management within the Microsoft 365 environment.
Implement and manage security protocols, updates, and compliance within Microsoft 365.
Develop and maintain automated workflows using Power Automate to streamline department processes.
Networking and System Management:
Administer and maintain AVFRD’s network infrastructure, focusing on Ubiquiti Unifi products.
Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure reliable connectivity across all department locations.
Manage a variety of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and Software as a Service (SaaS) applications used within the department.
Implement system updates, backups, and disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and availability.
Technical Support and Training:
Provide technical support to AVFRD members, resolving IT-related issues promptly.
Develop and deliver training sessions to staff and volunteers on the use of IT systems and tools.
Document IT procedures, policies, and system configurations for reference and training purposes.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with other department volunteers and staff to understand IT needs and provide solutions.
Collaborate with external vendors and service providers as needed to support AVFRD’s IT operations.
Regularly report on the status of IT systems, ongoing projects, and any issues to department leadership.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in administering Microsoft 365 environments, including Entra ID, Office, Power Automate, Windows, and Intune.
Familiarity with Ubiquiti Unifi networking products and general networking principles.
Strong understanding of COTS and SaaS software systems, with the ability to manage and integrate multiple platforms.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Previous experience in a volunteer organization or non-profit environment is a plus.
