Clarity PPM Analyst

This Clarity Analyst position is pivotal in maintaining a functional understanding of all modules within the PMO’s project portfolio management tool, Clarity, functioning as a subject matter expert (SME). The role entails collecting and interpreting business requirements from business partners and technical leadership who utilize Clarity. Responsibilities include supporting tier 1 and 2 user queries, configuring applications, and delivering training. The Analyst will also proactively communicate updates and functionality enhancements to a diverse group of stakeholders, including PMO Managers and project managers, as well as the broader non-PMO application user community.
Additionally, this role manages PPM application upgrades, coordinating efforts between the PPM vendor, users, and IT resources to ensure alignment with PMO strategic goals. The Clarity Analyst works closely with PMO process and reporting experts to ensure that the tool configuration supports detailed reporting requirements and process efficiencies across all user groups. The role also involves staying informed on PPM market trends and communicating these insights to both the PMO management team and process owners. Moreover, the Analyst is expected to keep abreast of PMI process standards and contribute to the development and upkeep of non-PPM PMO processes, ensuring a comprehensive support structure for all stakeholders.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Educational Background : A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is highly desirable, providing a solid academic foundation for the complex duties of this role.
Experience with Clarity PPM : At least 5 years of experience managing, supporting, and configuring the Clarity Project Portfolio Management tool, demonstrating deep expertise as a subject matter expert.
Project Management Knowledge : Familiarity with PMI-based project management competency areas and methodologies, with a proven track record of applying these methods successfully in project environments.
Analytical Skills : Strong analytical capabilities are required for process design, PPM application administration, data analysis, reporting, and crafting project management deliverables.
Independence in Management : Proven ability to autonomously manage multiple initiatives and activities, showcasing a high degree of initiative and self-direction.
Communication Proficiency : Strong oral and written communication skills are essential, with experience using these skills to effectively interact with all levels of management.
Negotiation and Relationship Management : Skills in negotiation and the capacity to build and maintain effective relationships with both business unit and IT stakeholders.
Business Intelligence Tools : Understanding of Business Intelligence reporting technologies, including Excel pivot tables, PowerPivot, and Power BI, to support effective decision-making and reporting.
Microsoft Office Proficiency : High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, and TeamSite, to support daily tasks and collaborative work within the PMO.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
General/System Administration
Collaboration and Support : Work closely with the Program and Project Management teams, as well as Portfolio teams, to provide comprehensive support to all technology organization and business area users of CA Clarity.
System Management : Responsible for ongoing production support, configuration, and development of all functional aspects of the CA Clarity system, ensuring optimal performance and alignment with business needs.
Expertise in Clarity : Act as the CA Clarity Subject Matter Expert (SME), offering guidance on system functionality and limitations. Develop custom reports, workflows, and portlets to enhance user experience and system efficiency.
Module Utilization : Utilize in-depth knowledge of Clarity modules such as Roadmap, Demand Management, Resource Management, Project Management, and Reporting to advise and support functional use.
System Maintenance : Identify, document, and conduct periodic maintenance activities to ensure system integrity and performance.
Performance Reporting : Generate system performance reports as required by the PMO to aid in executive decision-making and strategic planning.
Release and Change Management : Manage software releases, coordinate training sessions, and lead change management initiatives to facilitate smooth transitions and system updates.
Governance and Strategy : Establish and maintain enhancement strategies, release management protocols, and governance processes for the PPM tool, ensuring compliance and consistent application across all units.
Requirements Gathering : Collaborate with management to elicit, analyze, and document functional requirements for enhancements to the Clarity system.
Testing and Analysis : Provide critical analysis during testing phases and communicate findings effectively to development teams to ensure issues are addressed promptly.
Documentation and Training : Design and document procedures and training materials for use by internal clients, enhancing their understanding and efficient use of the system.
User Acceptance Testing (UAT) : Coordinate and participate in Clarity UAT and PPM release cycles, managing efforts to enhance system functionality and user experience.
Testing Support : Assist in the development of test scripts for validating system upgrades and fix patches, ensuring they meet quality standards.
Education and Advocacy : Educate and inform the firm about the functionalities and benefits of the Clarity system in relation to PMO processes and frameworks, promoting its strategic use.
Analytics and Reporting
Process and Continuous Improvement
Continuous improvement of related project portfolio management policies and processes. Participating in improving existing processes.
Providing CA Clarity best practices in helping define the future state.
Working with senior management and PMO staff to continuously review and improve relative processes and drive efficiencies.
Analyzing data for process problems and assessing defects and time delays in the process.
Skills
In-depth Knowledge of Clarity : Possess a comprehensive understanding of the CA Clarity PPM system, with an ability to navigate complex functionalities and leverage the system’s full capabilities.

Security and Configuration Management : Skilled in administering access to the CA Clarity system via security groups, custom configurations, and views, ensuring secure and role-appropriate access for all users.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills : Strong analytical skills are required for troubleshooting, system optimization, and translating user requirements into actionable configuration changes and enhancements.
The compensation range for this position is $50/hr-$60/hr (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
