Northrop Grumman Space Systems-Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Staff Engineer Systems Architect - Systems Architect (24-107) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Colorado Springs, CO, or Huntsville, AL.

Position Overview:

This position will be the systems architect for the Cyber and Platforms (CAP) Agile Release Train (ART) on the Command-and-Control Battle. A successful candidate will conduct analysis, make architectural decisions, and update the C2BMC system architecture in compliance with requirements. They will also review cyber, software, and network designs for compliance and alignment with architecture, generate engineering estimates, and author and perform formal and informal engineering reviews. They will develop program system architecture capability and capacity by mentoring more junior staff.

The candidate must be flexible and can support various tasks on short notice. Work will be performed under the direction of various technical leads and product owners and require interfacing with team members, C2BMC management, and government customers to ensure high-quality products are generated on time and within the available resources.

Essential Functions:

Adhering to program review processes and procedures, reviewing the content and details of technical products, and acting as a technical interface to MDA working-level counterparts on an as-required basis.

Responsible for driving value delivery for the infrastructure of a complex missile defense command and control system.

Specify stakeholder needs to drive the frequent value delivery to the customer.

Coordinate and prioritize needs for multiple Task Orders across multiple Product Teams.

Contribute to the overall C2BMC Program Roadmap.

Assess progress and report status to Leadership.

Act as the technical interface with the Government.

Manage stakeholder expectations.

Work with other Product Teams to plan and execute C2BMC releases.

Interface with the Run Ahead, System Architecture, and Technical Leadership Teams and communicate priorities to the Product Team.

Support preparation and presentation of briefings and demonstrations to customers.

Ability to exploit an architecture background to assist in defining system capabilities and analysis and assessment of development, test, information assurance, and network architectures.

Ability to architecture C2 software systems in an environment that leverages existing COTS/GOTS components with DoD interoperability.

Ability to identify and define desired capabilities.

Communication skills relating desired capabilities to a diverse group of developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and users.

Ability to generate system-level architecture artifacts to document and control achieving the desired capabilities.

Architecture development and coordination skills, including defining the relationships between internal and external components; communicating architectural intent and constraints to a diverse group of customers, developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and users.

Skills generating system/element level functional, performance, and interface specifications to document and control the achievement of the desired capabilities.

Extensive knowledge in writing proposals, earned value management techniques and reporting, resource planning of BOEs, and familiarization of genBOE.

A minimum of 10 years of system engineering/system architecture experience designing and developing new architectures and integrating existing architectures.

Experience should include specific roles in developing architecture artifacts.

Demonstrated experience in mission analysis with skill in architecture development and SysML modeling supporting MBSE.

Experience and understanding of Earned Value Management in a software development environment.

Basic Qualifications:

An active Secret clearance is required to start.

14 years with a Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or a related field; or 12 years with a Master's degree in a related field.

Possess the ability to be part of an integrated team tasked with developing and maintaining the physical, functional, and technical architecture baselines necessary to describe the BMDS Battle Management, Command & Control, and Communications (C2BMC) system.

Ability to communicate and interact with the customer and related system programs is essential.

Travel may be required between C2BMC performance sites.

Preferred Qualifications:

Skills in logical/physical architecture modeling and knowledge of CI/CD pipeline architecture, RAM, Mission Assurance, Safety, and cyber security concepts are highly desirable.

Ability to communicate effectively and present technical approaches and findings.

Knowledge of site engineering is required, and site engineering documentation is desired.

Experience with Agile Methods and Epic and Feature definition is a significant plus.

Demonstrated experience as either a Product Manager or a Product Owner.

Salary Range:

$121,000 - $181,400

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
