Acorn Engineering Inc. (Acorn), a growing civil and environmental engineering firm in Portland, Maine, is seeking a qualified Project Engineer. The engineer will be an integral part of the development team and assist through the life cycle of projects.Responsibilities include:

Development of drawingsCoordination with project stakeholdersRegulatory permittingConstruction administrationAcorn’s current projects include:

Downtown revitalizationAffordable housing through the stateUrban infill developments, including the tallest building in MaineMunicipal and industrial compliancePermitting for community solar farmsFloodplain restorationWatershed restorationAcorn partners with high-quality clientele and champions their projects from initial concept through planning board approval to final completion. Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering3-6 years experience with design, permitting, and construction administration for various site design projects within MaineStrong technical and engineering design skillsProficiency in AutoCad Civil 3D & HydroCADUnderstanding of local, state, and federal permitting regulations and applicationsExperience with design of stormwater management systemsValid driver’s licenseEI Certification required – PE or ability to obtain your PE within one (1) year is encouragedEmployees will be provided with a laptop to enable work within our hybrid work model. It’s anticipated the hybrid remote model would include 75% of time in the Portland office and 25% remote.
