Let’s create tomorrow together.The Advanced Machine Vision Application Engineer leverages extensive engineering skills, as well as advanced industry and field experience, to ensure that Zebra's products and solutions reflect the highest performance, meeting or exceeding market requirements. The role provides leadership to others on the team, guiding the development, validation, testing and integration of software and hardware products in the pursuit of cost-effective and market-ready solutions to customer challenges. Work is accomplished without considerable direction. Exerts significant latitude in determining objectives of assignments, providing direction to more junior team members who may be supporting.Location- Remote, USMust be able to travel – 50% travel
Responsibilities:Serves as technical subject matter expert and advanced escalation point for internal and external stakeholder teams.Addresses key challenges related to the performance of Zebra’s products and solutions in specific application scenarios.Evaluates product performance and usability challenges in order to identify the core issue and eliminate the problem.Collaborates with sales, engineering, and product management teams to communicate resolution and ensure fixes are validated and become available in a future release.Initiates technical analyses, planning and design to develop and propose products/solutions for roadmap consideration, ensuring that the product portfolio and roadmaps support the company's overall strategy and goals.Provides analysis and input on how products/solutions can best meet or exceed customer/partner business requirements, as well as on how they perform/compare to competitive options; this may entail guidance on software and hardware design, features/functions, integration capabilities, communication protocols, and/or solution applicability.Assists in the planning and analysis of strategic customer projects to ensure that they are effectively executed. Ensures appropriate products/features are incorporated in order to maximize customer benefit and business value.Represents the product management organization in customer meetings and often performs application deployment leadership, guiding technical and support staff. Communicates market needs, represents product/solution capabilities, provides recommendations, and shares information on market trends and applications.Proactively engages with product management colleagues to communicate market needs and inform and influence all aspects of the product portfolio and roadmap.Contributes to the development of technical training.Develops and documents solution deployment processes as needed and communicates to stakeholders.Designs/architects system demonstrations to ensure that products/solutions are represented in a highly professional and effective manner at internal and external events.Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise; interacts with management and senior customer personnel on matters requiring coordination across organizational lines.Serves as advanced Tier 3 technical support for partners/customers.Guides the work of junior Application Engineers as necessary.
Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree required.8+ years of relevant experience.Experience in application engineering.Experience working with fixed industrial scanning and/or machine vision solutions and commensurate knowledge of technology, products, and marketplace (please ensure resumes submitted clearly showcase this experience).Preferred Qualifications:MV solution implementation experience.RFID Solution experience.Experience with Windows OS’s such as Win7/Win10.Experience with Linux OS and common Linux toolsets and scripting languages.General understanding of mechanical, electrical, and industrial automation systems.Certified Vision Professional – basic.Experience with PLC and/or other factory automation equipment integration a plus.Experience with Linux OS and common Linux toolsets and scripting languages.Position Specific Information:• Travel Requirements - Up to 50%Zebra is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer committed to a diverse and inclusive work environment. USD 117700.00 - USD 176500.00 Yearly
Salary offered will vary depending on your location, job-related skills, knowledge, and experience. Additionally, all Zebra roles are eligible for cash incentive programs. For example, sales roles have additional opportunity to earn substantial variable compensation tied to quota achievement. In most other roles, the Zebra annual cash incentive program links Company and individual performance together. Some roles may also be eligible for long-term incentive equity awards.
