Position OverviewTwo premier health systems in the state of Alabama, UAB Medicine and Infirmary Health, have come together to improve patient outcomes by developing a Department of Urology/Urologic Oncology as part of the comprehensive Academic partnership agreement.The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is a research university and academic health center that discovers, teaches, and applies knowledge for the intellectual, cultural, social, and economic benefit of Birmingham, the state, and beyond. UAB is renowned for its collaborative culture that has produced breakthroughs in education, health care, research, and service.Infirmary Health has been delivering high-quality healthcare for over 110 years and is the largest integrated, not-for-profit healthcare system in Alabama. The system sees 1.5 million patient visits each year and has nearly 60 percent of the healthcare market share in the two primary counties it serves.The goal is to recruit 4-6 Urologists under the leadership of a newly recruited Chief of Urology. The complement of recruited Physicians will include General Urologists, Cancer Urologists, and other Urologic subspecialties needed for Infirmary Health. The Physicians will be jointly recruited by UAB Department of Urology in the Heersink School of Medicine and Infirmary Health.This is a non-tenure earning, full clinical position within the Department of Urology at the UAB Heersink School of Medicine with employment through University of Alabama Health System Foundation.For the relevant Physicians, membership in the O'Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center at UAB will be available in addition to the appointment in the Department of Urology, facilitating access to leading-edge research, clinical trials, and opportunities for Clinical/Translational Research. Candidates will be offered competitive compensation based on MGMA benchmarks.LocationMobile is a historic, mid-sized city located 30 minutes from the white sand beaches of the Alabama Gulf Coast, one hour from Pensacola, Florida, and two and a half hours from New Orleans, Louisiana.
