Automation Systems Integrator

within our US Onshore Resources Carbon Management, based in Kermit, Texas.Primary Purpose:The Automation Integrator executes on Automation Engineering deliverables by programming and/or installing PLC programs and validating compliance to engineering design. Supports Automation Engineering with design and control systems improvements. Works with Automation Construction and Commissioning Project Managers to commission facilities. Responsible for PLC Programming development and HMI/LOI programming and design work. Assist with oversight of automation electrical design. Troubleshooting/Testing/Debugging of programs and redlining of engineering documentation as applicable for Engineering As-Builts. Manages timely deliverables on projects.Responsibilities:All aspects of facility commissioning with focus on automation control systemsResponsible for maintaining project schedules to meet timelinesEngaged participation in project meetings and design reviewsResponsible for maintaining status reportsAdvanced understanding of facilities equipment, process flow and automation control systems and designs. Savvy with Electrical systems, Mechanical systems, Software applications, data management, and network security with ability to apply knowledge and experience to offer solutions.Develop and validate function of automation programs ensuring compliance to automation engineering documentationUse of all forms of software such as PLC Software (Examples) RSLogix500, RSLogix5000, DirectSoft5, ROCLINK 800/DS800; programs for HMIs, Red Lion Crimson, Factory Talk View, and Panelview; program RTUs and support troubleshooting.Complete redlines and relevant documentation to automation engineering (C&Es, P&IDs, 1-lines, etc.) to support current AS-BUILT post commissioning.Follow company Management of Change (MOC) processAdhere to Oxy program standardization and best practicesSupport operations and automation specialists with training on automation control system functionsSupport training of aspiring automation integrators on organizational processes, programming automation control systems, equipment, and documentation.Support low VAC devices – including but not limited to transformers, breaker boxes, electrical switches, heaters, motors and analyzersProvide troubleshooting and basic repair to 120v AC power supply to automation systems and devices.Support troubleshooting of 480v and less of AC power availability and notify electrical team of findings needing service/repair.Support automation end devices (switches, transmitters, etc.)- calibrate, troubleshoot, install, and use Hart communicator and multi metersIdentify and troubleshoot Ethernet, serial, satellite and wireless field communicationsResponsible for ensuring alarms are within the guidelines of Oxy standards, accurately represent the process, function as intended and follow appropriate change control protocolsCommunicate project activities with Asset TeamsAssist in evaluation of new technologies providing pro and con analogiesSupport customers (operations) as liaison with Automation Engineering to assist in design of projects and a desired operating philosophyActive participation in Oxy Process Improvement TeamsAbility and willingness to travel to support unassigned job areas on an as-needed basis.Ability and willingness to work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays and participate in an on-call rotation when neededAdvanced teamwork and collaboration abilities with internal and external business units exemplifying a responsible attitude for personal safety and the safety of co-workers, contractors, and the publicQualifications:2-year technical degree or equivalent working experience1+ years Automation Specialist/Tech experience1+ years Automation Integrator/Programming experience1+ years of Oil Field Process Facilities experiencePreferred qualifications:4-year technical degree (Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Automation Control Systems or related field or equivalent work experience)Advanced level of understanding of automation and electrical design principles.Advanced Knowledge & technical skills working with PLCs, HMIs, RTUs, EFMs, POCs (Allan Bradley, Totalflow, ROCs, Coriolis, etc.) and automation end devices.Intermediate knowledge of technical standards and guidelines (API, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, ISA, etc.)Advanced understanding of PSSRs (Pre-Startup Safety Review) and MOCs (Management of Change)Advanced understanding of automation systems and how they connect through networksAdvanced understanding of digital and analog I/O, programming, and troubleshootingProficient knowledge of analog and discrete instrumentation, and various serial and ethernet communications protocolsExperienced in tagging conventions, programming simulation and testingExtensive expertise in safe work systems.Expertise in Electrical / Automation construction codes and practicesExtensive knowledge of automation equipment specifications and applicationAdvanced Time management skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks within the constraints of timelinesAbility to work and perform under pressureAbility to assist in estimating budgets and manage budgetsUnderstanding of gas engineering principles and gas measurement standardsProficiencies in Leadership, Mentoring and TrainingAdvanced Communication Skills including written, oral, and remote meeting skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsProficient skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and Windows Operating SystemsRelocation: This position is not eligible for relocation.Occidental does not offer sponsorship of employment-based nonimmigrant visa petitions for this role.
