General Summary of Position
The Floor Technician, using specialized, power equipment, is responsible for the overall floor maintenance of hard surface and carpet (stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, extraction & bonneting) of areas that include offices, patient rooms, classrooms, corridors, lobbies, entrances, stairwells and other public areas such as cafeterias.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Performs preventative maintenance check on all equipment prior to use.Secures the work area and post proper safety notices for other users of the space prior to beginning work.Performs floor care, including routine mopping (dry and damp), buffing and burnishing on hard surface floors and stairwells.Performs vacuuming, shampooing, bonneting and extracting carpets, stairwells and upholstery.Performs wall cleaning.Performs dusting (high and low).Performs routine restroom cleaning.Performs routine office and/or classroom cleaning.Maintains floor care equipment.Performs terminal cleaning with use of UV machine in ORs, patient rooms and public areas. Must be able to use pre-programmed electronic tablet for initiating timed UV cleaning cycles and data collection purposes.Performs other duties as assigned by supervision
Minimum QualificationsEducation
High School Diploma or GED requiredMinimum of 3 years of directly relevant job-related experience may be substituted for the educational requirement
Experience
1 year experience and/or successful completion of the DES Floor Tech training program required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Requires the ability to read, write and perform basic addition and subtraction.Requires the ability to comply with basic oral and written instructions.Knowledge of how to strip, wax and burnish floors with minimal to no assistance.Knowledge of operating various pieces of equipment necessary to effectively perform job functions, such as a high-speed buffer, extractor, wet vac, pressure washer, auto scrubber.Knowledge of and adherence to specific floor care processes, in addition to knowledge and the safe use of various chemical agents (MSDS Sheets).
This position has a hiring range of $17.5 - $25.5
