POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Nursing, Critical Care Unit will be responsible for the day-to-day management and long-term planning of the Critical Care unit including patient care, directing and developing staff, collaborating with physicians, and multidisciplinary professional staff.
Responsibilities
Oversee the daily workflow, staffing, orientation, training and developing of employees within the Critical Care unitAct as the hospital liaison with all pre-hospital emergency medical servicesOrganize services and systems necessary for the multidisciplinary approach throughout the continuum of emergency careAssume responsibility for the clinical and financial performance of the assigned Critical Care unitResponsible for the ongoing quality/performance improvement processes related to the assigned Medical/Surgical unitEnsure staffing coverage meets productivity standards for unitSupport and interpret policies, procedures, philosophy and objectives of the hospitalFacilitate engagement plans for the Critical Care staff satisfactionMonitor patient satisfaction scores and implement plans to improve themComplete patient care requirements by scheduling and assigning nursing and staff; following up on work resultsMaintain nursing staff job results by coaching, counseling, and performance managing team membersResponsible for investigating patient, physician and team members complaints/concerns, and diligently work to resolveMaintain required competencies for self and all team members within the unitPerform any and all other duties as assignedQualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Nursing required, Master's degree preferredNew Jersey state RN license that is active and in good standingA minimum of 3+ years of management experience within Critical Care services required; Critical Care experience within a hospital similar in size to ours preferredBasic Life Support (BLS) certificationAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferredKnowledge, Skills & Abilities
Excellent leadership and communication skills with proven track record of building and coaching successful teamsStrong organizational and multi-tasking skillsAbility to work independently, exercise creativity, and maintain a positive attitudeStrong ability to handle difficult situations involving patients, Physicians, or others in a professional manner
