The Low Voltage Power Firmware Team is responsible for power distribution and management features on the Tesla vehicle platforms. As an engineer on this team, you will be responsible for testing our vehicle's power management and distribution features to ensure the quality and safety of the user's driving experience. You will architect, design, and implement firmware validation procedures, equipment, tooling, and automation to efficiently test vehicle components and subsystems. You will work closely with development and integration teams to explore and validate the performance capabilities of our hardware and firmware to ensure code quality is high. Your effort to create and equip automated validation infrastructures and coverage reporting will have a direct impact on the reliability, robustness, and value of our products. Responsibilities
Design, implement, validate, and maintain component-level testers, typically in the form of hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL)Create software models of physical systems internal and external to Tesla vehiclesWork with development engineers to design software validation infrastructure to maximize tester speed, ease of use, reliability, and fidelityExplore and innovate methods of measuring and increasing testing coverage and validating the robustness and quality of the charging firmwareDesign advanced automated test suitesArchitect methods of integrating the automated test suites into development processesCreate reporting mechanisms for automated testing for firmware and hardwareUnderstand and deconstruct complicated software systems and devise strategies to test these systemsCreate and execute test plans designed to expose weakness or faults in componentsReport the coverage of the automated tests and the metrics that the code is being evaluated againstRequirements
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, experience with evidence of exceptional ability, or equivalent1+ year of relevant experience (embedded design/validation)Proficiency in Python and comprehension of CExpertise testing devices and debugging hardware (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, DMM)Desire to participate in improving code robustness and designing testing infrastructureAbility to think creatively and produce "outside of the box" solutionsExperience in electronic and system schematic design & capture (Altium Designer) preferredExperience designing or interfacing with Hardware/Software-in-the-loop (HIL/SIL) test setups preferredFamiliarity with National Instrument Testing Software (LabView, TestStand, VeriStand) preferredKnowledge of source control (Git) and continuous integration (Jenkins) preferredCompensation and BenefitsBenefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
