Role Summary:
Northern Trust Asset Management (NTAM) is an over a trillion dollar investment management firm entrusted by investors around the globe to help them navigate changing market environments, so they can confidently realize their long-term objectives.
NTAM has embarked on an ambitious plan to modernize its data and analytics capabilities and embed a data-driven culture throughout the organization. The Associate Product Manager will pride themselves in taking a customer first approach to truly make it easier for our internal customers to utilize our data and capabilities to generate insight and deliver the best client experience.
The key focus of this role is to embed product management best practices, e.g. understanding the customer need and problems to solve, supporting the product roadmap, defining product requirements, helping to drive prioritization across several stakeholders, to build data products which support use cases and drive value for the users.
This person will work with internal stakeholders from various asset management divisions as well as other partners within the data office to focus on building high value, differentiated data products which solve complex problems and support business goals and objectives, contributing to overall success and growth of the asset management business.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead and support to identify business problems and use cases to support the development of data products:Develop a deep understanding of Northern Trust Asset Management and its role in the overall Northern Trust organizationBe a key contributor on a range of Product Management initiatives that will support the growth of the NTAM businessStay up to date on industry trends in the asset management space and product management best practices and integrate them into your daily workCollaborate with customers understand how data is used to drive business outcomes and work closely with other team members to develop solutions to supportParticipate in the design and development process of data products, providing feedback and input on how best to meet the customer needEnable and support users through robust documentation and other activities to highlight the data products and the use cases that each can supportNecessary Knowledge and Skills:
Excellent collaboration and communication skillsPassion for all things data and how it can support and drive business outcomes and solve problemsStrong interest in the asset management industryAbility to work independently or as part of a group and handle multiple tasks at one timeNecessary Behavioral Competencies:
Business acumen, and the ability to communicate to business domain stakeholders and technical staff.Experience with project management and familiarity working in agile environments.Demonstrate the ability to work well with others and exhibit leadership as needed.Be an excellent communicator and collaborator, engaging with multiple technical and business stakeholders and leaders. Team player with collaborative and inclusive approach.Able to translate the requirements into functional deliverables and have the ability to create interim solutions in a longer roadmapNecessary Experience and Education:
1-2 years of experience in Product ManagementExperience in asset management/investment management is highly desired.Bachelor's degree in field like Business, Finance, Computer Science, Information technology, Math, Data Science, Engineering, Statistics, Finance (with focus on analysis) etc. and/or relevant proven work experience is required
