POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Educational Services oversees the Educational Services Department and its diverse programs, including managing School Programs K-12 to enhance educational opportunities, administering Food Scholarships for Colleges and Universities to support higher education, and leading the Kids Café Administrative Team to ensure children have access to nutritious meals. This role ensures that all programs operate strategically, align with the organization's mission and goals, and adhere to policies and procedures to maintain high standards of operation and compliance, including meeting audit standards for transparency and accountability.
Additionally, the Director of Educational Services is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with network member agencies, external partners, volunteers, and other contacts. This involves regular communication and collaboration to foster a supportive network that enhances the effectiveness of the programs, creating a collaborative environment that supports innovation and continuous improvement within the Educational Services Department.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Implements strategic plans to ensure programs operate effectively in serving the community.Cultivates strong relationships and trust with network member agencies, volunteers, and other external contacts, while developing an understanding of their expertise, innovation efforts, and collaboration opportunities and proposals for departmental projects.Oversees millions in revenue between private and federal grants.Provides organization and accountability for staff and programs to ensure the department follows the organization's policies and procedures.Oversees audits and serves as the main liaison to federal and state agencies for those programs.Maintains thorough knowledge of federal/state nutrition programs relevant to the organization, including but not limited to USDA programs.Responsible for the effective and efficient use of the fiscal, human, and mechanical resources within the department.Generates new analyses, messaging, and program policy ideas to drive Houston Food Bank's (HFB) mission and goals.Devises and presents in public forums and conferences.Participates as an active member on internal/external committees, as needed/requested.Fosters a positive and collaborative team culture that encourages continuous learning and improvement.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages two (2) or more direct reports by providing guidance and/or oversight to employees and/or contractors. Develops and maintains roles, responsibilities, and expectations. Practices performance management in support of employee development, and perform administrative duties associated with being a people manager. Responsibilities include interviewing, planning, assigning, directing work, and resolving problems. Responsibilities also include sponsoring and participating in and/or supporting project teams sponsored by other management team members.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Education or Business or a closely related field.3-5 years of prior director-level experience in a large organization and leading senior-level leaders.Demonstrated senior leadership with strategic, budget, and planning experience.Experience working with large groups and working collaboratively across the organization.Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

The noise level in the office environment is typically quiet, but the employee will be exposed to loud/elevated noises throughout the workday.

Travel is required for this position (up to 30% of the time and on a domestic basis within our 18-county service area).
This role supports hours of operations at the Houston Food Bank facilities, as necessary, and may require flexibility (e.g., times of disaster, community events, company events).
