Role:

As Facilities and Construction Project Manager, you will lead, oversee, and guide all building design and renovation projects, ensuring they are meeting quality, timeline, and budget standards. You will lead ATM installations, manage lease agreements, and handle contracts for the Facilities department. This role requires strong project management skills, including coordination with the Operations, Facilities, and PMO teams, vendor management, contract negotiations, and effective communication to ensure successful project execution.

The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and contractors and be proficient in using project management software and tools.

Location: Our headquarters are based in Syracuse NY. This position will need to be on-site five days per week as facilities is considered essential to the business. This position also requires travel to all locations (ranging from Binghamton to Buffalo).

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

55% Facilities & Project Oversight:

- Manage all aspects of building construction, renovations, reconfigurations, and repairs, including ATM installations. Ensure projects adhere to high-quality standards and are completed within established timelines

- Coordinate and schedule projects, providing clear communication of details to staff, members, vendors, and contractors. Handle various lease agreements and contracts within the Facilities department.

- Conduct research and analysis to evaluate potential locations, analyze bids, negotiate contracts, and work with legal counsel to finalize agreements.

- Oversee and control project budgets, ensuring that all tasks are completed within approved financial parameters. Leverage strong communication skills to effectively collaborate across multiple departments and manage multitasking with efficiency.

- Travel is essential to all Empower FCU locations.

25% Budgeting & Support Services:

- Accurately forecast project costs, expenses, and utilization of resources.

- Develop and manage an annual budget encompassing property tax, lease agreement expenses, daily operational costs for building access and security, and all legal and consultant fees related to facilities.

- Oversee the budgeting for capital projects associated with building, renovation, and physical security requirements.

- Review and approve monthly payments for credit union-related expenses.

- Maintain and update a current database of all lease agreements for branch and ATM locations.

- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance with budgetary constraints.

15% Leadership & Team Development:

- Foster a cohesive team environment that emphasizes professionalism, courtesy, and sensitivity when interacting with credit union staff and vendors.

- Provide guidance and support to team members, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and values.

- Collaborate with the PMO to align with the company's project management framework and meet reporting requirements for effective project execution.

- Encourage open communication and collaboration within the team.

- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.

5% Perform all other duties as assigned.

Performance Measurements:

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience:

3 to 5 years of similar or related experience. PMP Certification is a plus

Education:

(1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.

Interpersonal Skills:

Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.

Other Skills:

- Proven expertise in planning and overseeing large-scale facilities projects.

- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.

- Must hold a valid New York State driver's license.

- Strong project management, estimating, and cost control, with a proven ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to shifting priorities.

- Advanced interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution, and professionalism in interactions with all levels of employees, vendors, and clients.

- Skilled in planning, leadership, and team building, with comprehensive knowledge of safety protocols.

- Proactive and self-motivated, capable of working efficiently under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude.
