Medical Research Specialist

Dependable, competent, and motivated individual experienced in cellular immunology and flow cytometry techniques is required to join the Division of Immunology at Tulane National Primate Research Center (TNPRC). The candidate should be proficient in complex cellular immunology techniques such as ELISPOT assays, cytotoxicity assays, ELISA and flow cytometry assays. The candidate should be able to work independently under minimal supervision under biosafety level 2+ conditions. The Medical Research Specialist also conducts research analysis and prepares reports; manages daily operational functions of the laboratory, maintains experimental records; orders and keeps track of laboratory specimens, supplies and inventory, and contributes to publication research and development activities. The candidate will also instruct other staff and student in basic laboratory techniques and monitor the performance of lab assistants and student researchers, as required by the Principal Investigator.
Knowledge of BSL-2 and preferably BSL-3 compliance and standard operating procedures

Working knowledge of various software programs for both PC and Mac systems
Proficient skills in the use of typical biomedical/microbiological laboratory equipment

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Bachelor's degree and three years of directly related experience
Master's Degree in biological science/medicine and at least three (3) years' research experience with BSL-2 agents, animal, biomedical laboratory experience and nonhuman primate experience
