About the Role
Lightship's mission to modernize and electrify RVs demands that we build a complex power system with multiple interfaces. As a Manager of Software Engineering, you will oversee the development and implementation of embedded software solutions for our products. You will be responsible for leading a team of software engineers, managing project timelines, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software within budgetary constraints. You are also willing to develop firmware as needed to help hasten our path to market with an exceptional vehicle that redefines RVing.
ResponsibilitiesLead, mentor, and inspire a team of software engineersProvide guidance and support to team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environmentManage the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deploymentDevelop project plans and schedules, and ensure that projects are completed on time and within budgetIdentify and mitigate risks to project success, and proactively address any issues that ariseProvide technical expertise and guidance to the team, helping to solve complex problems and make sound technical decisionsProvide firmware development support when necessaryStay current with industry trends and best practices in embedded software development, and ensure that the team is using the most appropriate tools and technologiesDrive innovation and continuous improvement in our software development processesCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, system engineers, and product managers, to ensure the successful integration of software with hardware componentsCommunicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organizationMinimum Qualifications
BS or above in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experienceMinimum 5 years experience as an embedded software developerMinimum 3 years experience in a leadership or management role with a proven track record of successfully leading software development teamsExcellent technical skills in embedded systems programming languages such as C or C++.Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and hardware/software integrationStrong understanding of software development processExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsPreferred Qualifications
MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related fieldKnowledge of automotive cybersecurityFamiliarity with Cloud IoT architecturesFamiliarity with embedded LinuxYou bring an entrepreneurial mindset to your work and are comfortable with uncertaintyEquity
Lightship compensation consists of the yearly salary above plus equity, which gives you a stake in the company.
$185,000 - $220,000 a year
