Job Title: IT Systems Specialist

Reports to: Chief Technology Officer

OVERVIEW OF THE AGENCY AND THE POSITION

The Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Commission is an independent agency that oversees law enforcement departments and officers throughout the Commonwealth. The Commission is charged with the following:Establishing certification standards for law enforcement departments and officers;Determining whether those standards have been met;Developing regulations and policies governing law enforcement;Decertifying, suspending, or ordering retraining for officers who commit misconduct or otherwise fail to satisfy requirements;Maintaining, analyzing, and disseminating information regarding law enforcement; andConducting investigations, adjudicatory proceedings, and public hearings regarding such matters.The Commission is governed by, and enforces, Chapter 6E of the Massachusetts General Laws. Pursuant to that statute, the Commission collaborates with the Commonwealth's Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC) in several areas of its work.

The Commission is looking for an individual to join the Technology Division as an IT Systems Specialist.

POSITION FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Role:

As an IT Systems Specialist, you will work with the POST Commission Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and the technology team in a broad range of tasks to help foster a positive, modern digital experience, and enable timely delivery of critical technology. Responsibilities:

Act as a liaison between members of IT, user community, and vendors;Manage support tickets from internal and external users;Identify and help resolve data issues including data cleansing;Investigate the cause of and resolve issues reported;Work alongside project managers, consultants, and technical leads, and support the rest of the company on cross-functional team issues;Help create and deliver application related trainings;Assist with deployments, integrations, upgrades and maintenance of hardware and software systems;Play a leading role in the documentation of internal processes and policies;Interact via written, verbal and in person communication with vendors as well as co-workers;Over time, become a SME on an ever-expanding catalog of SAAS apps including Office 365, CRM, Business Intelligence, and database systems; andWillingness to assist with any project.INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLYING

SALARY RANGE

Anticipated range: $80,000 - $100,000. Flexibility if commensurate with experience.

Qualifications:ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

The following are essential qualifications for the position:

Bachelor's degree in information technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field;Minimum 2-4 years of professional experience in information technology, software engineering, or computer science;Demonstrated success in a role with similarly extensive responsibilities;Familiarity with Microsoft Suite, data manipulation tools, SAAS integrations such as CRM's and Business Intelligence tools, project management software;Strong tech nical, analytical and problem-solving skills;S trong organizational skills, and attention to detail;The ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences;A commitment to handling confidential and sensitive information in accordance with privacy and security protocols, and with discretion;Excellent interpersonal skills; an appreciation for teamwork and collegiality; and an ability to interact well with people at all levels within the Commission, stakeholders, outside counsel, outside vendors, and members of the public;A strong work ethic and dedication to producing work at the highest levels of quality;An appreciation of the value of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and of the importance of interacting respectfully and sensitively with people of different backgrounds;A willingness to perform routine administrative duties as needed; andMust be able to work in the Commission's Boston office 2-3 days a week and otherwise as needed.OTHER VALUED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

Knowledge of data manipulation and tools including Excel, Access, PowerBI, and SQL databases;Knowledge of data using ETL tools - manipulation, warehousing, report writing, and BI tools;Experience working with large-scale applications and regulated data;Experience with key project ecosystems, platforms, and tools: AWS, various CRM applications; MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server or Snowflake or similar databases; Project Management Software; andFamiliarity with basic networking, firewalls, application installation and configuration, security protocols, and troubleshooting hardware issues.
