WORK SCHEDULE:
This position is
full-time
regular and exempt. The work schedule is typically Monday through Friday (8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.). May require working weekends and evenings.
ABOUT THE FUND DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT:
YouthCare's Fund Development department and its members work diligently and creatively to acquire the funds that keep YouthCare mission focused on ending homelessness for youth and young adults. This team is responsible for ensuring YouthCare has the funding needed to successfully run its programs and services. The Development Team strategically targets and engages the community in YouthCare's mission through fundraising, public relations & community engagement, marketing & external communications, public policy work, volunteer, and in-kind donation management, and much more. The efforts of this department are essential and indispensable.
YouthCare is a $21.6 million organization. It is currently fund raising for a $37 million capital campaign to open its new Constellation Center, a youth workforce development hub, in mid-2026. 2024's fund-raising goal (outside of the capital campaign) is $6.1 million.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Deputy Fund Development Officer, the Development Grant Manager participates in developing and implementing a private grant funding plan through individual, corporate and foundation outreach and engagement with current and potential YouthCare donors to grow our private grant funding and attain yearly revenue goals. They play a key role in managing and growing support from existing and new foundations and corporate funding sources. Areas of responsibility include management of grantor relationships, funding cycles, LOI's, proposals and reporting.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Develops and maintains a detailed calendar of application and reporting deadlines.Build collaborative relationships, both internally and externally, and gather information with staff to develop grant proposals, reports, and collateral.Grow YouthCare's list of perspective corporate and private donors through frequent research and prospecting of funders who align with YouthCare's mission and funding needs.Partner with the Deputy Development Director to develop strategies to engage, solicit, and steward prospects and prepare and/or assure the preparation of high-quality grant proposals and reports for funders in alignment with calendar.Develop a stewardship plan for engaging with foundation and corporate contacts that ensures partners are knowledgeable of the agency, deepens relationships, and fosters long-term support.Develop and manage private grants budget.Work with the Database Analyst to ensure that grants are recorded, acknowledged, and recognized appropriately.Manage grant and corporate support fundraising forecasts, predictions, and objectives.Work collaboratively with the Finance Department to ensure that awarded grants are designated appropriately and are spent in accordance with funder intentions and contracts.Support team by completing sponsorship applications for YouthCare's annual event as well as assisting in sponsor coordination.Maintain, manage, and improve systems that support the internal operations, logistics, and structure of the Development team.Work in collaboration with the Performance & Quality Improvement Department to ensure consistency of metrics provided in grant collateral.Work with the members of the Development team to identify new corporate and foundation giving strategies.Manages or participates as project team member for special projects as needed.Participates as a member of the Development team on the creation of work plans and establishing work priorities. Identifies ways to make work operations more effective and efficient on an ongoing basis.Ensure you and your team can reliably attend and contribute to training and development as needed for the role and Agency such as program requirements, DEI&J, supervision, committee work, and others as identified. This includes confirmation of registration, ensuring attendance, and covering shifts.Attend and assist your team members with contributing to our DEI&J culture by creating at least one SMART Goal related to DEI&J within their control to deliver.Lead at least one check-in each month with each team member to review SMART Goals, Values, and DEI&J commitments to be set up for success at the mid-year performance review. QUALIFICATIONS -
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
2 or more years of successful grant writing experience (or equivalent experience)Strong oral and written communication skills with good command of spelling, grammar, and punctuationAbility to work both independently and collaboratively, with a talent for building strong and productive relationships across constituencies.Extremely well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a busy environment.Creative, self-driven, and proactive problem solver with comfort to perform a variety of duties.Proven word processing and overall computer expertise including MS Office, Power Point, Publisher, and an aptitude for learning new software programs.High School Diploma, GED, and/or college graduateExperience and credentials must comply with program contractual requirements, including but not limited to the Washington State
Department of Children, Youth, and Families
(DCYF) background clearance process and must be at least 21 years of age. DCYF Clearance must be maintained for entirety of employment when working with under-18 clients.PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
3 or more years of related experience at a nonprofit organization in the area of fundraising, donor relations and/or eventsProvide a portfolio of past grant proposals or other samples of writing that demonstrate writing and communication skills, and journey of growth.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Must be able to provide I-9 supporting documentation for employment.Ability to provide a negative TB Test (results must be within one year of hire date).Employees who drive YouthCare vehicles as a requirement for their position , must be at least 21 years of old, possess a valid Washington State Driver's License, meet minimum safe driver criteria established by the agency and our insurance company which includes completion of Defensive Driving and 15-passenger Van trainings. Drivers under the age of 25 must have been licensed for at least 3 years and those operating vehicles with a capacity of 15 or more passengers must be at least 25 years old.Successful completion of pre-service training courses as required by contracting agencies.
