Project Manager - Civil Construction
Our client is a civil construction company utilizing heavy equipment and specializing in dirt, asphalt and concrete work with services in a wide variety of areas such as excavation, grading, HDPR piping, earthwork, concrete, demolition, foundations, fire protection (tank dikes), hazardous material handling, maintenance and repair, general civil structural work, pipeline, and other development for a variety of industries including but not limited to the oil industry, schools, municipalities, utilities, Caltrans, Metro, DOT and many more.
They are looking for a
Project Manager ,
Project Engineer and Assistant PM)
with experience in managing civil construction projects, ordering materials, supporting the field, thinking outside the box, tracking costs and providing estimates and budgets. This position is responsible to build and maintain a strong relationship with our customers and field supervision.
The
Project Manager
is also responsible to identify the project goals, objectives, scope, and create a project plan that outlines the task timelines and resources required to complete the job. The project manager's role is to take on the responsibility of the specific project or several projects within the company.
The
Project Manager
is also responsible for:
Play a key role in leading and overseeing construction projects from start to finish, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, and within budget.Ability to understand the contractual terms, requirements of projects, and the needs of customersPerform project pre-construction activities such as estimating, bidding, value engineering, and scheduling.Manage construction projects including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution.Manage all phases of construction from initial concept, through design, contract administration, construction, and project closeout.Collaborate with external parties (clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors) and internal parties (president, vice president, and accounting) to ensure project success.Conduct periodic job site visits as necessary to monitor project progress, quality assurance, safety codes, and compliance with company policies.Negotiate terms of agreements, draft contracts, and obtain necessary permits and licenses.Coordinate construction workers and subcontractors, ensuring they understand expectations and work efficiently.Provide regular updates, reports, and documentation to the team on a scheduled basis.Oversee project logistics, material delivery, procurement, and subcontractor coordination.Ensure project documentation, contracts, change orders, RFI's, insurance, and permits are completed and up to date.Ensure all projects are delivered on time within scope and budget, while maintaining the highest quality of work.Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.Represent the company professionally.Grow existing client relationships and procure new accounts.Required Experience for Project Manager (adjust for PE and Asst PM appropriately):
Bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering preferred2+ years of experience in the civil construction management in CaliforniaProven track record of successful managing multiple projects simultaneously including excavation, grading, haul-off, concrete, asphalt, and site improvements.Strong knowledge of construction processes, safety guidelines, and building codes.Excellent internal communication skills with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external clients.Proficiency in construction principles, procedures, project management software (ex. Procore, Prolog), and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)Ability to prioritize tasks, problem solve, and make sound decisions under pressure.Exceptional leadership, organizational, and time management skills.Must be highly organized and detail oriented with a dedicated to quality.Ability to work with passion, excitement, create, support team morale, and desire to deliver the highest quality projects to our clients.Train and mentor team members for overall company growth
