Position Summary Information
Key Responsibilities
Juniata College seeks an innovative and detail-oriented Graphic Designer to support the Marketing and Communications team. This position will support and elevate the College's visual brand identity across multiple platforms, ensuring consistency and quality in all visual touchpoints. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about graphic design, multimedia creation, and the opportunity to shape and represent Juniata's identity through creative, compelling content.
Location Requirement:
This role is on location at Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. By working on campus, the graphic designer builds collaborative relationships and strengthens on-campus communication with campus stakeholders.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:•
Brand Identity Management:
Ensure consistent use of Juniata College's brand standards and visual identity across digital and print media, social media, advertising, signage, and promotional materials.•
Multimedia Design:
Create high-quality multimedia content (e.g., graphics, short-form video editing, animations, photography, digital marketing) tailored for various platforms, from print, social media, and email to advertisements, billboards, and digital design, that engages and informs our diverse audiences.•
Content Collaboration:
Partner with the Marketing and Communications team and various campus departments to develop, refine, and implement visual content for campaigns and initiatives that align with the College's strategic goals.•
Asset Library Maintenance:
Design, organize, and maintain a library of digital assets, templates, and brand resources for internal use.•
Design Innovation:
Stay current with multimedia design trends, emerging media formats, and best practices in higher education, proactively recommending creative ideas to elevate the College's visual storytelling.• Monitor spending and budget, maintaining project records for financial accountability.• Review creative briefs to ensure clarity and actionable insights before starting design work.• Present creative concepts to marketing teams with clear rationale and strategic alignment.• Make proactive recommendations to streamline creative processes and enhance efficiency.• Develop production calendars and deadlines for assigned projects.• Prepare vendor bid specifications, including paper selection, bindery, and delivery requirements.

Position Qualifications• Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communication, integrated media arts, integrated media design, or related field. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.• 0 to 3 years of graphic design experience, with a strong portfolio demonstrating design skills.• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).• Demonstrated technical skills and creativity with digital and analog illustration techniques and methods.• Demonstrated technical skills with Lightroom, Premier Pro, and After Effects.• Strong understanding of design principles, color theory, typography, and layout composition, with the ability to apply these elements to reinforce the College's brand identity.• Demonstrated experience with digital and print design, showcasing an eye for detail, consistency, and creativity.• Ability to stay current on technology and design trends, especially within multimedia, to bring fresh ideas and innovation to projects.• Ability to work on multiple projects with a collaborative approach and willingness to incorporate feedback.• Basic understanding of social media platforms and their visual content needs.
Supervision Required/Given• Report to the Director of Design and Creative Services.• Provide guidance and training to student assistants in graphic design tasks.
Preferred Qualifications• Basic video production, creating storyboards, and managing detailed logistics with student videographers, a commitment, and interest in professional growth to advance marketing and communications.• Photography or interest in developing skills is a plus.• Basic awareness of design thinking principles, including empathy, ideation, and prototyping, to support innovative problem-solving.• Familiarity with human-centered design approaches, understanding user needs, and creating designs prioritizing accessibility and inclusivity.
