Department Summary:

Drake Legal Clinic is seeking a part-time employee to work at the Law Clinic's front desk. The Drake Legal Clinic is a teaching law firm providing legal assistance to Polk County residents which is operated through Drake University's Law School.

We are looking for a new member of team to be responsible for greeting clients and visitors to our office. In this role, you will oversee giving clients directions to various parts of the office, contacting employees regarding visitors, answering voicemails and sorting and distributing mail.

To be successful in this role, you will need excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as competency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Teams. Prior experience as an administrative assistant, receptionist, or customer service role would be helpful.

Anticipated Hours:10 a.m. - 3 p.m. M-F during the academic year (approximately August 15 - May 15)

Minimum Qualifications:• High School Diploma or equivalent• Prior experience as a receptionist or in a related field• Comfortable working with people in a multicultural environment• Excellent written and verbal communication skills• Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams• Good time management skills• Experience with administrative and clerical procedures• Able to contribute positively as part of a team, helping with various tasks as required• Strong multi-tasking and prioritizing tasks without guidance

Preferred Qualifications:• Associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred• Bilingual• Previous training in mental health first aid, or similar course

Job Duties:

25% - Receptionist Job Responsibilities: Serves visitors by greeting, welcoming, and directing them appropriately, utilizing interpretation when needed for non-English speaking visitors - (Essential)15% - Notifies clinic personnel of visitor arrival and assists with booking and finding meeting space for faculty, students, and clients - (Essential)15% - Performs ad-hoc administrative duties - (Essential)10% - Monitors the reception area and meeting rooms to ensure they are clean, organized, and ready for client meetings and classes - (Essential)10% - Places facilities requests when needed - (Essential)10% - Receives deliveries; sort and distribute incoming mail - (Essential)5% - Takes inventory of supplies and reorders as needed - (Essential)5% - • Assists with new student orientation as needed - (Essential)5% - • Participates in staff meetings and performs other duties, as assigned - (Essential)
