EastRise is hiring for a VP, Internal Audit! The ideal candidate is a strong leader, communicator, influencer and a master at all marketing disciplines with experience in team leadership and a human centric approach to product awareness, lead generation, adoption and usage within a financial institution.

The VP, Internal Audit will act as the manager of all internal auditing. Provides oversight, coordination and managerial support related to all internal audit functions. Develops the risk-based internal audit program and annual audit plan. Determines extent and timing of audit programs and objectives. Makes recommendations for improving internal controls. Reports audit results to Executive Management and the Supervisory Committee. Provides management with a review of accounting, financial, information systems, and other operations by measuring and evaluating the effectiveness of the organization's governance, risk management, and internal control processes.

Specific duties include:

Manage the day-to-day operations of the Internal Audit Department. Plan and allocate resources to operational, financial and information technology audits and reviews. Monitor all audits in progress (planning, risk assessments, test plans and testing) and routinely communicate/follow up with audit staff to maintain awareness of work progress and to ensure audit objectives are met and audits are completed timely. Review workpapers to ensure audit fieldwork/testing is documented to sufficiently support audit conclusions and that workpapers are documented in accordance with audit department standards and the Institute of Internal Auditor's (IIA) Standards. Act as in-charge auditor for certain audits, generally for areas considered complex or high-risk. Analyze and conclude on the effectiveness and efficiency of the control environment on areas audited. Deliver and communicate audit statuses, and results and recommendations to management. Create and oversee the development of impactful and timely audit reports that include sufficient and accurate detail, results, and findings. Present reports to Executive Management and the Supervisory Committee. Continually monitor and update the assessment of the control environment, keeping abreast of significant control issues, and changes in the credit union's business risks, operations, programs, systems, and controls.Manage the relationships with the external firms engaged to assist with completing internal and IT audits and reviews. Assign audits, and plan and approve audit scope and testing. Oversees and coordinates activities to ensure the efficient transfer of documentation between the auditors and the business areas to support audit testing and timely completion. Review and decision on potential findings and the audit report. Additionally, coordinate audit functions with the outside independent audit firm and Regulatory Examiners.Develop the enterprise level risk assessment. This includes reviewing the credit union's strategic plan, meeting with Management, and assessing changes to the business areas, operations, systems, and controls. Update the risk assessment at least annually for Supervisory Committee approval. Develop and execute a comprehensive enterprise level risk-based audit plan for evaluating the effectiveness of controls in place to manage significant risk exposures, ensure the integrity and reliability of information and financial reporting, safeguard company assets, and comply with policies, procedures, laws and regulations. Establish appropriate audit cycles based upon the risk assessment.Serves as the liaison between the Supervisory Committee and the organization. Work closely with the Supervisory Committee and the President and/or CEO to ensure that the audit planning activities, including scope, timing, and resource allocation, are effectively completed, and documented in a thorough and timely manner. Responsible for implementation of the Board approved Supervisory Committee Charter and Supervisory Committee approved Internal Audit Charter. Plan and prepare monthly Supervisory Committee meeting agendas and supporting documentation. Present and discuss documentation at meetings. Draft meeting minutes for Supervisory Committee approval. Periodically report to the Supervisory Committee on the status of the internal audit plan. Manages the Supervisory Committee's selection process of the independent external auditors.Other audit work - Monitor and validate corrective action plans, oversee the internal audit quality assurance program, and project monitoring.Conduct special projects, investigations, reviews, advisory assignments, or other work as requested by the Supervisory Committee and/or Management.Act as liaison between the NCUA, the Supervisory Committee, and Management to address complaints formally filed with the NCUA's Office of Consumer Protection against the Credit Union.Administer the Supervisory Committee's wrongful acts reporting line.Skills and Qualifications:

Ten years to fifteen years of similar or related experience in auditing.One or more relevant professional certifications: CPA, CIA, CISA, CCUIA.Knowledge of audit professional standards, internal audit techniques, policies and procedures, generally accepted accounting principles, and compliance auditing techniques.Must be able to analyze data and develop strategies to improve operations and must attend 20 hours per year of continuing education classes on topics relevant to the work being completed and provide evidence of attendance for your personnel file.The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of professional diplomacy, trust and relationship.Obtaining cooperation and agreement (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job and an expert level of interpersonal and written communication skills are critical to the success of this position.Experience in the financial industry preferred.
