Director of Internal Audit - Fayetteville, Raleigh, or Greenville
The right person for the job will be able to provide leadership and assurance on the internal audit function of the Association that includes the effectiveness of internal controls, operational controls, and external financial reporting. You will lead the evolution of a comprehensive risk-based audit plan under the oversight of the Audit Committee by working closing with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to understand the Association's operations and strategic objectives and engaging internal audit vendors. You will provide constructive advice to the Board, CEO, and SLT on audit findings, themes, and emerging risks to ensure safe and sound Association operations.

The Director of Internal Audit will contribute to all business objectives including "Responsibly Lead the Co-op". The Director of Internal Audit will work independently of management, reporting directly to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors and indirectly to the Chief Executive Officer.

How you will impact AgCarolina Farm Credit:
  • Scoping and executing a comprehensive risk-based internal audit plan
  • Plans, manages, and conducts operational and functional audits to evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, policies and procedures
  • Supports the Audit Committee to engage audit vendors and resources to execute the audit plan
  • Communicate proactively with management and the Audit Committee on audit related matters
  • Supports external auditor and regulatory oversight relationships
  • Provide independent assessment of management's compliance with Farm Credit Administration (FCA) and other applicable regulations
  • Provides formal reports for audits including recommendations for correcting unsatisfactory conditions, improvements in the efficiency of operations, and/or reductions in operation costs
  • Prepares and performs follow-up reviews based on management action plans and completion dates and reviews timeliness of corrective actions
  • Maintains awareness of develops in auditing standards, Farm Credit System regulations and trends, Association operations and general information technology
  • Provides logistical support for the Audit Committee and collaborates with the chairman on committee agendas and meeting materials
  • Assists SLT in planning, providing proper reports and making recommendations on key issues facing the Association
  • Participate in training as scheduled by the supervisor

What you need to succeed:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting or agricultural economics or related fields, advance degree preferred
  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years of middle to upper-level management/administrative experience
  • Certification as Certified Internal Auditor, CPA, or other equivalent designation highly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of internal audit standards and internal controls over financial reporting
  • Self-starter with strong analytical, judgement, and communication (oral and written) skills
  • Skilled in project management, being a leader among peers and/or workflow management
  • Ability to travel overnight for audits, trainings, and other activities
  • Capability to handle high stress situations in both a business and professional manner
