As a
Lead Data Science , you will be responsible for leading the technical direction of the Data Science COE, overseeing the design, development, and deployment of advanced data science models and solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of data science methodologies, hands-on technical expertise, and the ability to guide a team of data scientists. You will work closely with business leaders, data scientists, data engineers, and analysts to deliver impactful data-driven solutions that align with organizational goals.
How You Will Make an Impact
Mines and extracts data and applies statistics and algorithms necessary to derive insights for Central InsuranceOversees the generation of an automated insights generation framework for Central Insurance's business partners to effectively interpret dataReviews departmental recommendations based on the application of various established and less utilized data science conceptsDevelops new means by which deep statistical analysis can be applied across the organization to help solve for Central's most complex business or data issuesShares expert-level knowledge and recommends changes based on industry trends, emerging technologies, and new methodologies and delivers thought leadership both within and outside the organizationServes as a leading member on automation and analytical projects, collaborating across various functionsLeads senior level scientists on the team with the translation of business requirements and establishes best in class solutions for various business issuesDesigns the analytic approach to solving a business problem; helps identify the sources, methods, parameters, and procedures to be used; may also communicate with stakeholders on project scope and timelinesGathers and assimilates data according to the project plan; works with the team to discuss analysis and findingsReviews data team's final recommendations, ensuring solutions are implementable in the businessExecutes projects with full adherence to enterprise project management practices by participating in formal and informal trainingOversee modeling documentation and responses to DOI objectionsInvolvement with model deployment including QA testing and validating outputsLead initiatives with third party data vendorsWhat You Will Bring
Master's degree in Computer Science or related field and 4 years of related experience
Or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and 6 years of related experienceOr 8 years related experience
Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong data visualization development experienceAbility to set priorities and plans to meet business goals and objectivesAbility to shift & balance strategic, high-level thinking with attention to detailAbility to lead, motivate & influence without having formal authorityAbility to act as a thought leader with a focus on innovative & high-quality solutionsAbility to work both independently and in a team environment with internal /external customersAbility to understand, design & implement end-to-end BI workflowsStrong organizational, planning & problem-solving skillsAbility to communicate with stakeholders and business partnersPreferred
Experience in performing predictive analytics in a large scale enterpriseSQL experienceProgramming experience (Python, Java, Scala, Rust, R, SAS, etc.)Experience using multiple data systems and sources (such as Hadoop, Spark, Aster, Teradata, etc.Experience with visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL Server etc.)Demonstrated ability to build APIsExposure to version control, GIT HubExposure to Cloud computing, AWS, Azure, GCP etc.Work AuthorizationCentral will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States.
