Staff Accountant
you will be responsible for assisting with accounts receivable, asset management, billing and new project costings and monitoring the profitability of existing projects. The successful candidate will be a member of our in-house finance team, but you should also be comfortable working on tasks independently.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist in preparing monthly management accounting with emphasis on sales, client/project profitability and management of deferred revenueVerifies validity of account discrepancies by obtaining and investigating information from project management team, management and from customersAssist in job setups, budgeting, and invoicingAssist in reporting on multiple projects including performance tracking, forecasting revenue, gross margin analysis and summaries of all other key and salient pointsReview of all job cost postings prior to paymentAssist team in monitoring and driving job invoicing and change order billingIssue invoices and bills and send them to customers through various channelsSend reminders for payments and contact customers when assignedRegular revision of project revenue and cost forecasts for budgetsAssist in costing and providing backup to the Commercial Team on the costing of large contractsAssist in asset management trackingProduce analysis of accounts and monthly reportsAssist with month-end closingProvide supporting documents for auditsCross training with other members of the finance teamIdentifies areas for process improvementProtects organization's value by keeping information confidentialPerform other duties as assignedQualifications:
Degree not required, but former accounting/bookkeeping experience is a plusExperience in cost management accounting, construction experience preferred.Proficient data entry and computer skills (Microsoft Office, specifically Excel)Able to communicate effectively with internal and external senior stakeholdersAdept at reporting using multiple platforms, identifying trends and key actions for changeWell-organized with clear ability to prioritize workStrong attention to detail and accuracy of workAbility to work independently and utilize problem-solving skillsAbility to meet deadlinesMust return a background investigation that meets customer requirementsPhysical
