Hushabye Nursery is an Arizona nonprofit organization with a mission to 'embrace substance-exposed babies and their caregivers with compassionate, evidence-based care that changes the course of their entire lives.' The organization was founded by Tara Sundem, a neonatal nurse practitioner who witnessed firsthand the challenges of newborns exposed prenatally to opioids and those families trying to care for them. Hushabye Nursery's innovative model offers a safe and inclusive space where mothers, family members and babies - from conception through childhood - can receive integrative care and therapeutic support that offers each child the best possible life outcomes. Programs will include prenatal and postpartum support groups, inpatient nursery services and outpatient therapies.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Clinician III is a Clinical Supervisor who will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective delivery of behavioral health services at Hushabye Nursery. This role encompasses a range of responsibilities, including overseeing clinical staff, providing direct client support, and ensuring adherence to state and national standards. The Clinician III will mentor and supervise Case Managers, Peer Supports, Engagement Team members, interns, and clinicians, while also playing a key role in client advocacy and support. This position requires a blend of clinical expertise, administrative acumen, and a commitment to trauma-informed care and evidence-based practices.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
Clinical Supervision and Oversight:
• Supervise and mentor clinical staff, including Case Managers, Peer Supports, Engagement Team members, interns, and clinicians, ensuring compliance with State and National standards.
• Lead individual and group supervision, conduct chart reviews and documentation reviews, and provide periodic refresher training on trauma-informed care, evidence-based practices, and behavioral health charting.
• Review and approve clinical documentation and supervision notes.
• Oversee the supervisory responsibilities of Clinician IIs, who may supervise associate-level licensed clinicians or unlicensed staff such as peer support specialists or case managers, to ensure quality guidance and support.
• Ensure effective implementation of treatment and discharge plans by monitoring comprehensive clinical records.
Client Support:
• Act as an advocate for clients, particularly those affected by substance use, providing necessary case management and support.
• Assist participants with enrollment in Hushabye Nursery programming and support program events and activities.
• Conduct direct counseling services, including intakes, assessments, treatment planning, discharge planning, and group counseling.
• Facilitate human development and adjustment, manage symptoms of mental illness through psychoeducation and tailored interventions, and monitor and assess treatment plan effectiveness.
Training and Development:
• Provide training on trauma-informed care and substance use prevention to community partners, local providers, and internal staff.
• Coach and train Clinician I and II on clinical practices, administrative tasks, and professional development.
• Support the training and onboarding of outpatient team members who provide direct client services.
Administrative and Compliance Duties:
• Ensure timely and accurate completion of documentation in accordance with Hushabye Nursery policies and Arizona State law.
• Maintain Standards of Practice and complete mandatory reporting regarding child abuse and/or neglect.
• Participate in staff meetings, case conferences, and other relevant forums, contributing to the agency's strategic direction.
Additional Duties:
• Undertake additional projects or tasks as assigned by senior leadership, including flexible hours as needed for evenings, weekends, and on-call coverage.
• Conduct ongoing compliance reviews of clinical staff's documentation and performance, providing feedback and disciplinary action as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Train new hires, oversee onboarding, and support ongoing employee development.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
• Effective communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Background in health care, social work, mental health, and/or substance use.
• Problem-solving skills and ability to multi-task.
• Must be passionate about and have at least two years working with clients with substance use.
• Current AZ DPS Level 1 fingerprint clearance card.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to build rapport with clients.
• Ability to remain calm in crisis situations.
• At least one year of experience and knowledge of providing AZDHS Clinical Oversight and AZ Board of Behavioral Health Supervision to supervisees and interns in a substance use outpatient setting is preferred.
• Strong leadership qualities.
EDUCATION (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS) and Experience:
• Master's degree or higher in the field of behavioral health (e.g. Psychology, Social Work, Counseling).
• Independent Arizona Behavioral Health licensure.
• Two years of experience practicing in one of the licenses listed below.
o Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist ( LMFT )
o Licensed Clinical Social Worker ( LCSW ) by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners
o Licensed Professional Counselor ( LPC) by the Arizona State Board of Behavioral Health Examiners
o Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor ( LISAC ) by the Arizona State Board of Behavioral Health Examiners
• AZBBHE approved Clinical Supervisor License.
