The Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing the financial operations and financial planning of the organization, ensuring compliance with accounting and regulatory standards, and maintaining the fiscal integrity of the organization.

ABOUT HUSHABYE NURSERY:
Hushabye Nursery is an Arizona nonprofit organization with a mission to 'embrace substance-exposed babies and their caregivers with compassionate, evidence-based care that changes the course of their entire lives.' The organization was founded by Tara Sundem, a neonatal nurse practitioner who witnessed firsthand the challenges of newborns exposed prenatally to opioids and those families trying to care for them. Hushabye Nursery's innovative model offers a safe and inclusive space where mothers, family members and babies - from conception through childhood - can receive integrative care and therapeutic support that offers each child the best possible life outcomes. Programs will include prenatal and postpartum support groups, inpatient nursery services and outpatient therapies.
QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:
QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
Financial Leadership:
Lead the finance department, providing strategic direction to ensure the financial health and growth of the organization.Develop and implement financial policies and procedures that comply with federal, state, and local regulations.Ensure and monitor financial policies and procedures are being implemented and followed by all in the organization.Financial Planning and Analysis:
Prepare accurate and timely financial reports and analysis, forecasting, and strategic planning to guide key business decisions.Effectively and accurately represents the financial condition of the organization to the Finance Committee and the Board of Directors.Monitor financial performance by measuring and analyzing results; initiating corrective actions; and minimizing the impact of variances.Budget Management:
Coordinate the annual budget process, including developing budget models, collaborating with department heads, and presenting the budget to the board for approval.Ensure budget compliance throughout the fiscal year and report any significant budget concerns to management.Accounting and Administration:
Oversee the accounting department to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and function; supervise nonprofit payroll, accounts receivable/payable, and other financial transactions.Ensure that records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.Compliance and Risk Management:
Ensure that all financial transactions and policies are in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.Oversee the coordination and activities of independent auditors ensuring all financial statement audit issues are resolved and all compliance issues are met.Complies with external audits and cooperates with grantors/funders to provide data quickly and accurately.Funding and Investor Relations:
Manage and cultivate relationships with potential funders, financial institutions, and investment managers.Prepare and present financial information and proposals to stakeholders and potential donors.Team Management:
Manage the finance department staff, including training, performance evaluation, and hiring decisions.Evaluate and streamline systems and processes to improve efficiencies of staffDeliver feedback to staff in a way that can be heard and accepted by each staff memberSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is directly responsible for leading the Finance Department.Oversees the daily workflow of the department.Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.Strong ethics and a high level of personal and professional integrity.Excellent communication and presentation skills.Strong leadership skills and ability to foster a team-oriented environment.Knowledge of federal and state fiscal requirements in accordance with GAAP.Experience in non-profit financial management- federal, state, local, and private funding.Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.Advanced experience in QuickBooks Online.Strong critical thinking skillsExcellent communication skillsCurrent AZ DPS Level 1 fingerprint clearanceEDUCATION (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS) and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; CPA or Master's degree preferred.At least 7-10 years of financial experience and management experience with the day-to-day financial operations in a nonprofit organization.Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting, grant management, compliance, and budget development.
