Team or Function Overview
Siplast, a brand of GAF Commercial, offers a uniquely segmented and dedicated portfolio of building enclosure solutions for the commercial construction market. Siplast's Research & Development (R&D) team develops new products, technologies, and product systems to meet market needs and support business growth in commercial roofing, building enclosure systems, and related applications while providing on-going technical, material, and operational support for existing products and systems. As part of GAF's extended Commercial R&D function, Siplast R&D collaborates on projects across multiple product platforms exchanging technical support with colleagues across GAF and sister companies in the Standard Industries portfolio. Summary
The Director, R&D for the Siplast commercial business unit is a hands-on management role responsible for the entire new product development lifecycle and continuous improvement and support for existing products and systems. As such, she/he will provide the strategic and operational development for new and existing products for commercial use, and will measure and monitor the "growth ecosystem" from incubation through go-to-market. The Director, R&D is expected to assess and upgrade, as appropriate, the design and operation of the commercial product development organization to reflect the future needs of our customers and our business. This position is an on-site position based in Arkadelphia, AR and reports to the Vice President and General Manager of Siplast.
Essential Duties
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Partners and collaborates with executive, senior management and business unit stakeholders to align on priorities, deliverables, and timelines for the overall R&D strategy from concept to marketDrive the R&D Operations to align resources for new product research and development, continuous improvement of existing products and systems, and achieve key business prioritiesAnalyze quantitative and qualitative market feedback to establish strategic and tactical measures to support innovation and growth initiativesProvide expert guidance to all commercial functional areas to ensure appropriate resources are allocated, and on the development and innovative approaches for go-to-market strategies using deep technology background and identifying product differentiators in the marketCultivate, manage and develop a high-performing, agile, team culture that is driven by relentless innovation. This includes directing the day to day operations of the team, performance management and coaching/development throughout the year as well as conducting mid-year and year-end performance reviews

A Bachelors/Masters/PhD degree in chemistry, polymer science, engineering or related field with 10+ years of experience in product development and/or application testing in coatings, paints, adhesives, asphaltic materials, concrete, polymers, membranes, or other related fieldsDemonstrated successful experience in developing new platforms and advancing technologies5+ years demonstrated successful experience leading teamsUnder This Roof, We Also Value
