Job Description
The Strategic Supply Chain Specialist supports and participates on existing production to procure parts and materials with primary objective toward the best quality, price, and delivery. Work closely with management on cost reduction and on-time delivery programs. They will b responsible for ensuring that all necessary materials are available to production at both manufacturing sites so that customer expectations and monthly financial goals are met.
Duties & Responsibilities
Analyze buying patterns of components and implement supply chain strategies to minimize lead time to our customers.Align suppliers MOQ to the MOQ offered to our customers.Analyze and simplify supply chain to reduce lead time and overall costLaise with customer service to ensure proper quoted lead time is delivered to the customer (lead time and price)Maintain correct system parameters for part numbers to ensure correct MRP signals are delivered to the production buyersWork with supplier quality, production, and planning to ensure correct quantity of material is purchased.Manage inventory value to increase turns for the value streamImplement replenishment strategies to minimize inventory value lead time and improve on time deliveryAnalyze excess and obsolete inventory to make correct decision for provision or usage Negotiate with approved suppliers for best terms, delivery, quality specifications, and lowest overall cost.Analyze and compare quotations, detailing differences, and competitive advantages of each and recommend best proposal.Expedite material with suppliers to meet customer requests and monthly sales goals.Question and justify all price changes, both increases and surcharges with approval from Global Procurement prior to order placement Monitor supplier delivery performance on new and existing products; work with Global Procurement where improvement is required.Maintain current delivery status on the computer system for all open orders. Providing feedback to planning team.Work with Quality Control to expedite 1st article samples and Corrective Action Request's from Suppliers.Return of rejected material within 2 days of disposition by material review report, coordinate resolution of Corrective Action and delivery of replacement material.Ensure vendors/suppliers comply with the Smiths Code of Ethics policy regarding conflicts of interest, gifts, entertainment, illegal practices, bribes and gratuities.Assist in the departmental goal of orders being placed within one week of appearing on Order Action ReportQuestion purchase requisitions as to make/ buy decisions.Aggressively pursue cost reductions while maintaining high standards of qualityEnter MRO supply ordersObtain regulatory data / information from suppliers as required (Trade Compliance / ROHS / REACH / NADCAP)Ensure most economical shipping methods are used to deliver product to the manufacturing plantPerform other duties as assigned by the Sr. Plant Manager.Diversity & Inclusion

Bachelor's degree - equivalent related experience of 5+ years will be considered in lieu of degreeExperience with ERP systemsProficient in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Outlook.Able to travel - Domestic and International travel as required.
