In the role of Staff Accountant you will play a critical role as part of the financial operations team. You will be responsible for various accounting tasks including the preparing financial statements, managing accounts payable, reconciling accounts, analyzing financial data, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively while demonstrating a high regard to maintaining integrity and confidentiality. Routine responsibilities will require you to:
Collaborate with members of the accounting group and cross-functional teams to achieve departmental and organizational goals.Identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement in accounting processes and procedures; implement solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.Conduct thorough analysis of manufacturing costs including raw material, labor, and overhead expenses to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement to support the decision-making process.Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reporting to support the activities of the business and present to leadership.Prepare and analyze financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and record journal entries to accurately reflect the financial transactions.Calculate and book depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation.Monitor and control expenses to ensure alignment with budgets.Perform treasury function with cash applications and banking operations.Manage accounts payables including vendor invoices and payments ensuring accuracy and timely payments.Processing sales and use tax returns quarterly.Review and process employee expense reports and implement processes to go paperless.Assist in providing documentation and support during internal and external audits; collaborate with auditors to address inquiries and resolve discrepancies.Stay current with changes in accounting regulations and standards by reading related materials, attending related conferences/trainings/etc.Required experience and qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
required3 + years of experience in accounting or finance role in a manufacturing environmentUnderstanding of costing methods such as job costing and standard costingStrong understanding of accounting principles and regulations GAAP/IFRSProficiency in accounting softwareAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP systems; Syteline/Infor a strong plusExcellent attention to detail and organizational skillsExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsEffective communication skills, both written and verbalAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
