SUMMARY

We are seeking a dynamic leader to join our community of learners at Edwardsville High School.

QUALIFICATIONSMinimum of a M.S. in school administration with a valid Illinois Professional Educator License or Educator License with the General Administrative Endorsement.Prior experience as a school administrator.Salary Range

The starting salary for the 12-month high school principal position is $143,000.

DUTIES

Oversees implementation of curriculum and staff development with the goal of improvising instruction and student achievement.Supervises the instructional programs of the school, evaluating lesson plans and observing classes on a regular basis to encourage the use of a variety of instructional strategies and materials consistent with research on learning and child growth and development.Works with the Superintendent in planning and adapting the curriculum to unit-wide needs.Organizes committees that are desirable to study and present recommendations or reports on matters relating to programs within the building.Develops clearly understood emergency procedures and provides regular drills for emergencies and disasters.Establishes procedures that create and maintain attractive, organized, functional, healthy, clean, and safe facilities with proper attention to the visual, acoustic and temperature aspects of the building.Consults with the Superintendent on matters of administrative procedures and functions.Establishes and maintains an effective inventory system for all school supplies, materials and equipment.Communicates with the Superintendent regularly about the needs, successes and general operation of the school.Establishes procedures for safe storing and securing the integrity of all public and confidential school records.Protects confidentiality of records and information gained as part of exercising professional duties and uses discretion in sharing such information within legal confines.Attends required committee meetings, workshops, institutes, and extra school sponsored functions.Participates in professional growth through membership and participation in professional organizations and/or conferences.Supervises the kitchen, classified staff, school safety officers, monitors, custodial staff, cafeteria staff, and assistants for the building to ensure standards are being maintained and students have a clean safe environment in which they attend school.Communicates regularly with parents, so as to create a cooperative relationship to support the students in school.Develops positive community relationships and promotes public relations for the school.Interprets school policy in relation to students, parents, and personnel in the building.Oversees disciplinary consequences of students who are not in compliance with school rules.Refers to counselor those students who are in need of help.Develops the master schedule and assigns students to classes on the basis of teacher recommendations, pupil achievement, and other factors in the building.Addresses issues related to the educational needs of students and develops appropriate action plans to meet these needs in the building.Evaluates standard test data and the utilization of it with the faculty to improve education in the building.Evaluates building procedures, rules, and curriculum with the professional staff of the building.Directs school activities toward established goals.Interprets new legislation in the field of education to teachers in the building.Establishes schedules and procedures for the supervision of students in non-classroom areas (including before and after school).Sets the academic tone and actively works with teachers to develop and maintain high curriculum standards, develop mission statements, and set performance goals and objectives.Organizes and coordinates facility use schedules.Keeps accurate student records.Maintains records and accounts as directed by the Superintendent.Prepares financial, statistical, descriptive, and other reports as directed.Participates in employment interviews and makes recommendations for dismissals of any employee assigned to the building.Supervises and evaluates all certified and non-certified staff in the building.Submits purchase orders in line with the school budget and in accordance with district policy.Performs any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
