Introduction:

Black Box Network Services, the global leader in communication system integration, is looking for two Data Technicians with a proven track record in:Racking and stacking of network devicesCable patchingPhysical layer troubleshootingEquipment disposal activities.This position will support facilities management, site security and project engagement with a commitment and desire to satisfy our customer by completing all work at the highest level, always striving for perfection. The candidate must be motivated and self-driven for success.

Position Details:

Hourly position based upon experience & skill levelStandard work hours: Monday 11:00 PM to Saturday 7:00 AM or Tuesday 3:00 PM to Saturday 11:00 PM.Location: Onsite Chandler, AZ 85224Responsibilities:

The patching cabling between network equipment and customer's networkThe installation of power cables from equipment to power supply in rack/cabinet/closetThe installation, troubleshooting and de-installing network equipment

Install/swap out devices (e.g., phone, computers, cables, boards, edge routers, switches and etc.)Install, troubleshoot, and de-install Network General remote Sniffers

Complete all hard and complex Move, Add Change (MAC) requests within the defined service levelsAct as interface between customer's associates and managementProvide hardware break-fix services for network infrastructurePerform onsite call-through, data, voice, website and security testingPerform back-up testing to ensure all systems are connected to the customer's network as directedSupport carrier testing of circuitsAssist with facilities efforts

Power and uninterruptable power supply (UPS) restoralWater problems,Emergency cooling restoration,Fire suppression exercises, restoration, and post fire events

Support inventory management activities

Receiving inventoryTagging of assetsTracking spares (crash kits)Ordering inventoryUpdating inventory recordsPrepare and return damaged equipment

Act as an interface, as needed, between associates at the applicable location and centralized project / operations / MAC managementCoordination services will be provided 24x7; Coordinate with and support other third-party vendors (e.g., telecommunications, wiring, distributed antenna solutions, WAN/LAN management) in compliance with customer's requirements.Requirements:

Requires appropriate equipment and training with high-speed fiber optic transport

The ability to clean high speed single mode optical connectionsThe ability to measure, transmit and receive on high-speed opticsThe knowledge and experience to work safely with high-speed single mode long range optical lasers

Must be proficient in utilizing technical tools such as Sniffers, BERT testers, cable testers, and fiber testers.Requires experience in working in a data centers and communications closets

Must be able to perform rack and stack activities

Must be able to safely lift heavy objects

Must understand cable patching processes and proceduresMust have a basic knowledge of data communications networking.

Must be able to assist in troubleshooting issuesMust understand network terminology

Must be willing to work shift work which includes nights and weekends.Experience and Education:

5+ years of experience in data communicationsMust have a basic knowledge of Cisco switches and routersMust have a basic knowledge of local and wide area networking.High school diploma or equivalent requiredPhysical Requirements:

Heavy Work: May frequently exert force equivalent to lifting up to approximately 50 pounds and/or occasionally exert force equivalent to team lifting up to approximately 100 pounds.Vision: Requires the ability to perceive the nature of objects by the eye.Near Acuity: Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less.Midrange: Clarity of vision at distances of more than 20 inches and less than 20 feet.Far Acuity: Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more.Peripheral: Ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point.Depth Perception: Three-dimensional vision. Ability to judge distances and spatial relationships so as to see objects where and as they actually are.Ability to adjust focus: Ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.Color Vision: Ability to identify colors.Speaking/Hearing: Possesses the ability to give and receive information through speaking and listening skills.Motor Coordination: While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The incumbent is frequently required to stand; and walk. The incumbent is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend.
