Compensation

The compensation target range for this role is:$212,500 - $250,000

Job SummaryWe are looking for an ambitious and strategic Sr. Director of Data and Analytics Engineering to join our team at Purple. This pivotal role will be responsible for leading our engineering and analytics team in the development and implementation of analytics solutions for Purple's products and services. The successful candidate will have a passion for data-driven decision making and will possess a deep understanding of data engineering and analytics principles and technologies. You and your team will be responsible for delivering analytically driven insights to optimize everything Purple does to support operations, including Supply Chain/Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing, Distribution, Customer Service, Marketing, Sales as well as Accounting/Finance. We have rich data, endless use-cases, and supportive business partners.

You must have in-depth knowledge of the following areas: channels, sales, payroll, pricing, promotions, supply chain, sourcing, manufacturing, materials, and/or costing management. We are looking for a flexible problem solver, and outstanding communicator who is comfortable learning quickly and connecting the dots between disparate methodologies. Success will depend on your ability to quickly form both professional and personal relationships with colleagues and leaders.

Job Description

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Oversees enterprise-wide data analysis, participate in senior-level discussions, and provide findings and best practices by partnering with senior leaders and their functionsBe a thought leader who develops strategies, tools, and techniques to bring data insights to the forefront of decision-makingChampion a data-driven culture by leading a team that produces comprehensive analytical reports and conducts testing to deliver actionable insights, best practices, and strategic recommendations, empowering informed decision-making throughout the organization.Oversight of a multidisciplinary team, including Data Analysts, Business Intelligence Analysts, Product Analysts, Data Engineering and Data Scientists who use cutting-edge analytics techniques to enhance data products, platforms, and servicesProven leadership and organizational skills are essential, as the successful candidate will be expected to lead and motivate a team of engineers and data scientist.Oversee the deployment of highly detailed, predictive, and/or prescriptive models that help Purple optimize the selling manufacturing and corporate functions through strategic data insights and roadmapsOversee the designing and building of innovative data and analytics solutions, visualizations, metrics and OKRs to support key decisions across multiple global sourcing and manufacturing functions (materials, sustainable manufacturing, sourcing, manufacturing, costing management, etc.)Works with CFO and Sr. Leaders with advanced analytics and data products and reporting to understand data requirements and improve current and future opportunities to drive knowledge into action

Required Skills, Education, Experience:

Experienced working in a Director, Manager or Lead position.Technical proficiency. Curiosity to continue learning new analytical methods and tools. Extensive experience with data pipelines and predictive modelling.Analytical thinking. Capable of the full scope of data-driven decision-making: diving deep to understand the nuances of individual data points, defining illuminating summary statistics and visualizations, crafting simple yet accurate narratives, and employing all of the foregoing to improve our product and business.Intuitive problem-solving. Understand and think through causal relationships and ripple effects. Confidence in tackling emerging and complex problemsExcellence in communication. Ability to collaborate and speak the language of our Operational, Product, Engineering, and Executive leadership teams.PREFERRED:

Bachelor's degree in business administration, economics, finance, computer science, data science, information science or related field, or equivalent work experience; Masters or Ph.D. strongly preferred10+ years in business insights, analytics, data products & reporting, and/or advanced analytics supporting a supply chain function via descriptive, predictive or prescriptive modelsExtensive experience collecting, analysing and visualizing data, and driving insights to understand, shape and optimize business outcomes, and influence decision makingIn-depth level of experience tracking, managing and optimizing critical metrics, KPIs, OKRs related to marketing, production, materials, sustainability, sourcing and manufacturing, and cost managementProficiency in SQL or similar experience in analysing large structured and unstructured datasetsExperience working with Business Intelligence, Analytics and Data Visualization toolsExperience working with data exploration and analytical packages (JMP, R, STATA)Experience in applying advanced analytics models to advise or optimize end-to-end supply chain networks is a plusFamiliarity with SCADA, Leading 2 Lean, HighJump, ETQ, NetSuite, Looker, Snowflake, etc.BENEFITS AND PERKS
