ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Controller leads the finance and accounting function at Burton. The successful candidate will be a strong communicator, skilled financial analyst and outstanding collaborator as a part of the Burton Leadership Team. This person will streamline the budgeting and financial reporting processes, while controlling expenditures in alignment with financial plans. The Controller will also produce thorough financial status reports for senior managers to help improve our operational efficiency and aid in our continued growth. This position will be in the Burton Oil Service Operations Corporate office in Tyler.
Responsibilities include:• Manage daily work assignments for the Accounting Team to ensure healthy, timely and accurate.
o Ticketing and invoicing completed customer job deliveries.
o Collections on accounts receivable.
o Payment on expenses for payroll, loans, and vendors.
o Overall company cashflow.
o Monthly financial reporting.• Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk, inclusive of General Ledger.• Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.• Analyze periodic performance measures; identify weaknesses, recommend changes to ensure that company productivity and financial objectives are achieved.• Develop and implement best practices and tools to ensure a well-controlled yet flexible organization that has strong fiscal management, project coordination, cross-team communications, and workflows.• Manage financial IT systems, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory entities.• Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company's performance.• Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.• Lead the team in a way that exudes professionalism, respect, safety, fairness, and integrity to develop and grow trust-based relationships.• Other duties, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES• Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration required.• Ten years or more of related experience required.• Advanced knowledge in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams).• Excellent management and supervisory skills.• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
WORK/ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (WITH OR WITHOUT ACCOMMODATION)• Office environment, using computer, telephone, other office equipment as needed to perform duties, frequent interruptions throughout day likely.• Essential: continuous sitting, wrist turning, grasping, pinching, and finger manipulation, frequent turning and twisting, and occasional reaching.• Occasionally required to lift, carry, push and/or pull up to 20 lbs.• Hearing and vision (both correctable) are essential.
