Job Summary::

The Controller is responsible for overseeing the financials and maintaining good quality control of the staff work. The Controller is also responsible for overseeing the following items: financial reporting, managerial reporting, financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, tax, audit, cash management, banking, journal entries, accruals, fixed assets, reconciliation, insurance, and indirect cost rate management for our federal grants. The Controller needs to be a team player, one who stewards the team in accounting best practices, internal controls, and technical accounting knowledge.Essential Functions::Providing overall coaching and management of the Controllers staff, including performance evaluation, recruitment, hiring, training, and terminating.Managing the annual budget process and the annual external audits (financial, 401K, program).Managing, reviewing and approving journal entries.Managing all financial reporting, expenditure reporting, balance sheet reconciliations and bank reconciliations.Prepare organization financial statements, bank reports and indirect cost rate calculation.Managing accounting procedures and policies (and updating them as needed).Maintain expert knowledge of accounting practices, especially as it pertains to Not-for-Profits.Other Functions::

Assist Chief Financial Officer in all Finance and Accounting matters as needed.Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.Qualifications and Requirements::

Bachelors DegreeCPA with a combination of ten (10) years of accounting and supervisory experience.Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

Physical Demands::Must be able to read, write, and communicate both verbally and in written form to express and exchange ideas. While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee must be able to access all components of work station and other office equipment. Frequent typing, writing, bending and twisting. Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.Work Environment::General office environment with moderate noise. This position is mostly sedentary, involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. A busy environment with many unscheduled interruptions. Frequent computer use at workstation for extended periods of time. Public contact position requiring appropriate business apparel.
