Purpose:
Responsible for sourcing, developing and closing real estate loans as well as developing new business. Represents the credit union in the local community and participates in marketing all of the credit union's products and services.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:Originates/completes mortgage loan applications, gathers necessary loan documents, collects upfront fees and commits loan for processing.Consults with applicants on a variety of mortgage financing products and programs.Follows up on incomplete applications to offer assistance and/or determine applicant's intentions.Coordinates with Credit Union Mortgage Association (CUMA) mortgage processors, communicates with the applicant and other parties respectively on the progress of the application.Completes follow up to ensure loan closing and resolve any problems while ensuring compliance guidelines.Source and develop loans for within markets including but not limited to: HELOC, residential real estate, consumer loans.Works with CUMA Secondary Desk to secure rate lock. Works to ensure the loans are closed, funded and sold to the secondary market prior to rate lock expiration.Works to ensure that all pertinent account documentation is complete and accurate and that all collateral has been properly secured.Support the credit union's strong relationship building culture through on-going member contact, quality member service, and superior product knowledge.Build and maintain positive relations with all members, potential members and co-workers.Establish a network of realtors and local business contacts for loan referrals.Perform as a team member in allocating and coordinating the work flow.Contribute to the fulfillment of department and company objectives and goals.Comply with all department and company policies, procedures and regulations.Completes entire loan package, to present to CUMA processors who will then order the appraisal and title work.Works to cross-sell other credit union products to new and current members.Other duties as assigned.Other Duties and Responsibilities:
The ability to make sound decisions. This may include making on-the-spot decisions regarding customer transactions; weighing customer satisfaction issues with the Credit Union's exposure to loss or fraud and the ability to think through and rationalize decisions.Must comply with the Federal Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering & Customer Identification Policy (BSA), the OFAC Policy and the Identity Theft Policy.
Minimum Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and Training:High School education or GED.Must be able to meet the qualifications necessary to be registered with the NMLS under the provisions set forth by the S.A.F.E. Act.On an annual basis is required to complete mandatory Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC and Red Flag Identity Theft training.Prior Experience:
5-8 years mortgage lending or related experience.Interpersonal Skills:
Courtesy, tact and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.
Other Special Skills and Abilities:
Strong communication skills both written and verbal and the ability to explain and discuss complex and/or sensitive topics.Strong proficiency in all Microsoft Office products.Understanding and knowledge of credit union and lending regulations and responsibilities relating to each including a working knowledge of mortgages, liens and other aspects of the loan collateral perfection.Strong knowledge of FLFCU lending products, policies and procedures.Self-starter, ability to work independently.Leadership abilities.
Physical Demands:
The need for physical stamina is low to moderate. Moderate to significant local travel is required.
Working Conditions:Minimal adverse working conditions. Some fluctuations in temperature experienced in office setting. May need to work beyond normal working hours, pending organization needs.
