Position: Camp Nurse Salary: $20.00-$30.00
The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is currently hiring Summer Camp Nurses. The nurse is responsible for reporting all health concerns to Camp Director. Administer medications and health checks. Communicates with parents, counselors, and directors of any health concerns. Reports and records all health concerns to parents. Observe the health and well-being of campers and staff throughout their stay at camp. Provide medical treatment as needed for all persons in accordance with the medical standing orders and health center procedures as provided. Maintain a clean, comfortable, and well-supplied health care facility, including first aid kits throughout camp. Maintain health forms, health logs, medication administration records, and accident/incident reports in a confidential and timely manner. Provide health care coverage and act in on call manner to be available for emergencies, illnesses, inpatient care, sick calls, and transport of a patient to an off-site health care facility. Collect and receive all medications and maintain proper storage throughout the week. Manage personal time off in accordance with camp policy. Supervise the health screenings of all campers during check in. Play a critical role in any health emergencies. Other duties as needed. Working at the Y, you will create exciting and impactful experiences for campers, build connections with your peers and Y professionals, expand your leadership skills, and have fun! This is a seasonal position for the months of June through August 2024.
What you need to be a Camp Nurse:
Certified as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practitioner or Physician21 years of age or olderWilling to participate in training to obtain CPR and First Aid CertificationClear the local jurisdiction requirements for criminal background and/or fingerprintingMeet the county/state licensing requirementsAble to effectively communicate with children and parentsUnderstand and be committed to working with diverse population and to Y character developmentAs an organization committed to improving and protecting the health of our communities, we require you to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment.Physical requirements:
Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods of timeMust be able to pick-up at least 35 poundsMust have visual acuity to observe all childrenWe offer the following benefits:
