YMCA Camp Letts is a dynamic resident camp facility dedicated to serving youth, families, and other organizations for over 100 years. Our camp is located in Edgewater, Maryland on 220 waterfront acres. Camp Letts features a welcoming dining facility with a beautiful waterfront view, and a wide range of activities and amenities including water sports, horseback riding, ropes course, nature exploration, and so much more.
Position: Camp Director Pay Rate:
$1100.00/Weekly
YMCA Camp Letts is currently looking to hire a Summer Camp Director. Working at the Y, you will create exciting and impactful experiences for campers, build connections with your peers and Y professionals, expand your leadership skills, and have fun! This is a seasonal position for the months of June through August 2024.
Some of the exciting things you will do as a Camp Director:The Camp Directorwill oversee and manage summer camp (residential and day camps).Responsible for recruiting and retaining qualified staff to provide quality programs to our members and program participants.Ensure all campers have a fun, enriching, and safe experiencePlan and implement the Y camp program in accordance with the goals and policies of the Y and the camp curriculumProvide leadership to camp counselors, including training and daily supervisionMentor camp staffEnsure daily schedule of activities is carried out for all groups of campersConduct weekly team meetings and provide performance feedback on a daily basisEnsure that all counselors have daily schedule and the appropriate supplies and resources to deliver a quality programBe responsible for camper safety and securityEnsure adherence to the policies of the YMotivate, energize and encourage counselors to deliver outstanding programming and customer service dailyParticipate in staff trainings and meetings as requiredWhat you need to be a Camp Director:Be able to work from the week before camp begins for training to the end of the final week of the seasonHigh school graduate21 years of ageWilling to participate in and obtain CPR and First Aid CertificationClear the local jurisdiction requirements for criminal background and/or fingerprintingMeet the county/state licensing requirementsY Day Camp Director certification/preferredAt least three summers of experience in day camp, recreation, physical education, teaching, or working with school age childrenPrior experience supervising staffWork well with and in groupsAble to effectively communicate with children and parentsUnderstand and be committed to working with diverse population and to Y character developmentPhysical requirements:Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods of timeMust be physically active to play games and sports with the childrenMust be able to pick-up at least 35 poundsMust have visual acuity to observe all childrenDocumentation of physical examination and TB skin testWe offer the following benefits:Competitive compensationFree Y membership403(b) savings planExciting and collaborative work environmentAbility to work with creative, talented and diverse individuals!The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
