The Director of Clinical Informatics position reports to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and is a hybrid (onsite/remote) role in the Informatics department. This position is responsible for leading the Informatics team and managing a portfolio of clinical applications and data analytics to provide a high-performing clinical computing environment that promotes user adoption, workflow efficiency, quality care and patient safety. The Director of Clinical Informatics will collaborate with the CIO and many other business and clinical leaders and staff in strategy, planning, designing, implementing and supporting a variety of information systems and optimization projects.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree in Informatics, Nursing, Information Systems or other relevant field is requiredMaster's degree in Informatics, Nursing, Information Systems or other relevant field is preferred3 years of nursing or other clinical experience is required3 years of experience with Informatics staff and clinical/operational department management is required6 years of experience using and managing clinical information systems, including Electronic Health Records (EHR) is requiredPrevious experience with the clinical systems selection, implementation, optimization, workflow design, data analytics, support and lifecycle management is requiredESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage the Informatics team; oversee the team and individual goals and objectives, coach, mentor, conduct performance evaluations and team communication to ensure excellence in Informatics service to the organizationLead the selection and optimization of clinical systems and design workflow that translates into the digital environmentLead the implementation of clinical systems, including upgrades, regression testing, interfacing and/or integration with other systems and external entitiesOversee the development and delivery of clinical information systems training programs for all clinical disciplinesOversee the clinical data analytics and reporting function for the organization; recommend and provide dashboards and KPIs for leadershipEnsure the security, performance, and business continuity of the clinical applications by following best practices for implementation and changes and resolving issuesEffectively manage departmental and vendor relationships for systems support and adoptionEnsure clinical systems documentation is current, including workflow diagrams, system configurations, and implementation project artifactsRecommend innovative ideas, systems, devices and processes to improve efficiency, enhance user experience, promote quality care, improve patient safety, bring value to the organization and/or save resourcesStay current and knowledgeable on new developments in the areas of responsibilityDevelop and enforce Informatics policies and procedures to ensure the integrity, security and privacy of all data, including PII, PHI and PCI in compliance with HIPAA and other lawsTogether with the Informatics team, provide 24/7/365 clinical systems support, as well as travel to the various clinical facilities and business office locations as requiredSKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
Proven leadership and clinical competence and the ability to mentor/coach with a collaborative style to develop, nurture and organize a high-functioning teamProfessional with exceptional interpersonal, communication and customer service skills and the ability to lead and/or collaborate with interdisciplinary teamsKnowledge of clinical best practices, operations, policies, procedures, workflows, and regulatory requirementsAbility to multi-task and prioritize work to meet due dates in a changing environment with attention to detail and accuracy, ability to focus and highly organizedHigh ethical standards with ability to work in a confidential manner, ensuring information is only shared as appropriateInnovative and analytical thinking; advanced troubleshooting skills; self-reliant and capable of independent work
